The “Naked” Dress

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the “naked” dress? That’s right; in the first season of Sex and The City, Carrie Bradshaw donned the infamous garment during a photo shoot, and it took her right to her first date with Mr. Big. She thought it was the downfall of their not-yet-started relationship, and yet it seems as it was the catalyst to the beginning of a whirlwind romance.

So it’s no surprise to see a re-emergence of the “naked” Dress, or at least, a modern take on the “naked” dress. It’s has always been barely-there slip, usually in a nude tone but now done in so many styles and colours. It relates to the current underwear as outerwear trend, and has been worn by some of our favourite celeb starlets. A new type of “naked” dress has also emerged, giving more of an homage to its namesake as ever before with varying degrees of actual skin showing.

What’s fabulous about this look is it can be a sexy and adventurous avenue to take either in the bedroom or outside of it, if you so dare. It’s not about having that tiny little body to make a “naked” dress work; it’s all about confidence. Some of these styles can be worn with a shaping slip or even a high-waisted shaping panty, if that makes you feel a little bit comfortable.
