The show will take place at Mo*Vida, Radisson Royal Hotel, Sheik Zayed Road, Dubai.
Mo*Vida Dubai, hosts Dubai’s most elite crowd. Mo*Vida Dubai stays close to its
London vibe which attracts not only the local but also western crowd and by
teaming up with art galleries and Fashion houses across the region, the club also
hosts some of Dubai’s ‘best dressed’ party goers. Mo*Vida has also played host
to socialites and celebrities from further a field in its first working year, names
include Wiz Khalifa, Labrinth, 50 Cent and Lil John.
‘Solo por la noche’ is a Collection formed out of a unique collaboration between one of Dubai’s most recognisable creative Women’s Wear Brands; Sartori Sartori and British Fashion designer James Harris. Inspiration for the evening derives from the Mexican festival and celebration of life called ‘Dia de Los Muertos’ or ‘Day of the Dead’.
The collection merges the innovation and creativity of Sartori Sartori with the radical and conceptual work of James Harris to form a unique collection of evening wear and showpieces.
SARTORI SARTORI In 2009 Deborah Simcox, a British born and educated Fashion Designer established ‘Sartori Sartori’, an Avant-garde evening wear brand that would not only be unique in its design aesthetic but also in its concept.
Sartori Sartori is innovative, creative and specifically geared towards evening wear through the combined use of structured corsetry techniques and luxurious fabrics with an eye for detail and fabulous fit. Launched in November 2009 the brand has gone from strength to strength with a portfolio of eight stockists both physical and e-commence within the UAE and GCC.
Over the past three years Sartori Sartori has played an active role in the development of the creative industry within the region by providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work in a professional environment. Artists from a variety of genres collaborate with Sartori Sartori for a season, giving them exposure on a professional level and ensuring our ranges are always absolute. This platform is called ‘The List’ and as is our brand name; derivative of the noun ‘Sartorialist’.
Deborah Simcox, the head designer and Creative Director of Sartori Sartori, has a long history of design and fashion and has already established herself firmly in Dubai’s fashion scene. In 2009 she was one of six designers to win a place at Dubai Fashion Week AW09 -10 as part of the ‘Emerging Talent’ group and has since gone onto produce five seasonal collections selling in a number of outlets in the UAE and GCC including Galeries Lafayette, Dubai Mall and S*uce Boutiques, Dubai & Abu Dhabi, The Yellow Room, Sharjah, Dados, Qatar to name a few.
JAMES HARRIS is a womanswear designer and fashion stylist who has recently moved from London to Dubai. Famed for his unique sharp tailored cutting, contrasting fabrics and luxurious embellishment his collections have always been controversial with dark themes and unusual concepts.
After graduating with honors from London’s Central Saint Martins College af Art & Design his graduation collection caught the eye of Louis Vuitton’s Peter Copping. James opted to continue his training with friend and mentor ‘Lee’ Alexander McQueen, before going on to work for names such as Boudicca, Hussien Chalayan, and the avantegarde Polish designer Arkadius. James led the design team at Arkadius showing collections at London and New York fashion weeks. It was through Arkadius James met shoe designer Jimmy Choo and the late Isabella Blow.
James went on to launch James Harris as a label showing small conceptual collections at London Fashion Week. His collections drew critical acclaim and press attention and his debut collection ‘Swimming with Sharks’ was sponsored by the London Hilton Park Lane and ‘OK’ magazine.
He is currently setting up the James Harris label in Dubai and looking to show his own solo collection in 2013.
