Readers of Breakfast With Audrey would by now know that we are big fans of Racing in all its wonderful guises! Last week we were excited to report on a new event on the Victorian racing calendar for 2016 – an event that offers the ultimate summery approach to a great day at the track: ‘Relaxed Racing.’

Whilst there are no shortage of fun things to do during the Relaxed Racing schedule, as mentioned in my previous story I was drawn to the idea of participating in Caulfield’s V.I.Picnic.
Blending relaxed summer days with the excitement of racing, (and some VIP vibes which are always welcome), the V.I.Picnic provides everything we want in a fun day out.
So what is the V.I.Picnic?
The V.I.Picnic is all about relaxing and lunching in style, trackside. This is the opportunity to put on a frock (nothing too fancy required), pop yourself onto a picnic blanket, and sit back to enjoy the action with some delicious treats.
Featuring ‘Group One Thoroughbred Racing’, you’re guaranteed all the excitement one would expect from the country’s highest calibre races, albeit at a slower pace (for you that is, NOT the fillies!)
Picnics are hosted at Caulfield across three key dates:
- 13th February (Family Day)
- Saturday 27th February (Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day)
- 26th March (Easter Cup Day).
Purchasing a picnic will provide you access to the exclusive V.I.Picnic Precinct, a delicious hamper (there are three different hamper packages available I’ve highlighted my favourite below) plus access to the free face painting and crafts area which is located nearby for the kids.
Note: Be sure to purchase your picnic online before Feb 6th, to get 4 free entry tickets thrown in.
The V.I.Picnic area comes replete with sun umbrellas and all so you will be sheltered from the sun. Simply turn up, grab your hamper and enjoy.

2x Mini wheel of brie (with quince paste and lavosh)
1x Bag rosemary grissini
1x Saskia beer free range chicken rillettes
Lunch
4x Peri peri chicken and corn mini sandwiches
