What To Wear For Those Holiday Baking Extravaganzas (Plus Our Fav Cookie Recipes)

Guys. I think I’m gonna ask Thanksgiving to be early every year. I feel like this year we’ve actually had the time to do some fun Holiday things! We got our tree cut from the farm and put up last weekend and we’ve already baked some fun cookies! I think we are already winning Christmas. Let’s hope it’s not downhill from here. Ha.

More Fancy Sprinkles = more fun, right?! And also give me all the cozy story time while waiting for the cookies to bake and cool, please. I’m soaking up all the holiday fun this year with my little gal. I know I’ll blink and she’ll be too big to want to do this. But yes (*insert side-eye emoji here), she kept petting my butt the entire time I had these joggers on, so be forewarned. They’re so soft they’re irresistible. (Santa might be bringing her these tiny velour joggers so she can match mama’s softness…shhh.)

Btw, these fancy sprinkles are the BEST. I’ve already ordered more. We gave them to cousins for gingerbread house decorating recently, too, and they were a hit! I’m obsessed. See below for the actual, gift-worthy finished result.

Daily Ritual Velour Sweatshirt & Joggers -Velour is everywhere right now. And I’m OK with that. These are so soft and comfy, I definitely plan on living in them this winter. The sweatshirt will be cute with jeans and a scarf, too.

Slippers (similar) – Not all leopard slippers are created equally. Mine are from last year, but these and these are super cute. I am particular about the print, but both of these are picky-designer approved.

Burt’s Bees Kids PJs in Fair Isle – The print has tiny bees in the fair isle pattern. Dying. They’re so soft and great and reasonable! I love Burt’s Bees clothing line.

Toddler Girls’ Pig Slippers – So cute and fuzzy!

Our Favorite Cookie Recipes To Gift (Or Not)

Holiday Cut Cookies – This is the recipe I used. It’s great! Very simple and you can add the vanilla or 1-2 tsp lemon zest for flavor. These were a bit cakey and really yummy. Be sure to use the easy ornamental frosting recipe, too. No whipping egg whites! And here’s a similar large snowflake cookie cutter and again, here are the amazing fancy sprinkles. This colorway is called Grinchmas. Bah!

The BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies are here (take a couple of days, but WORTH it) and here (much quicker cookies by my friend Cosette). Don’t worry about adding a ‘holiday’ element to them (no M&M’s here, please.) They are just amazing on their own… or serve them with peppermint hot chocolate.

Hungarian Butterhorns – My stepmom makes these most years, and they are melt-in-your-mouth amazingness. I think this will be my first year to try my hand at them since we won’t be in Arkansas. Yum!!!

Mexican Wedding Cookies – The first time I ever had these was one Christmas when I was a kid; I’ve thought of them as holiday cookies ever since. Another melt-in-your-mouth cookie great for an exchange or to fill a tin on its own!

Linzer Cookies – These are so, so lovely, they should be made this time of year. I think apparently I adore anything with lots of butter in it and powdered sugar on top. #duh

Peppermint Meringues – Um, yes. We’re just going with the melt-in-your-mouth trend here. Plus, these are so pretty. Top a cake or cupcakes with these, too!

What’s your favorite holiday tradition? Baking is definitely tops for me. That and driving around in PJs drinking hot chocolate and looking at Christmas lights. Ahh, this time of year is craziness and so wonderful all in one. Hope you’re able to enjoy some of the magic, friends.

xo,
