What’s the difference between lace frontal and lace closure?

Lace frontal and Lace closure are popular among most African American women, for that the lace frontal and lace closure help them create more natural seamless headline. They both serve the same purpose to close off an install and eliminate the need for blending. They are both made of either Swiss lace or French lace. But they also have several differences between them that we will discuss here.

The most obvious difference between lace frontals and lace closures are the size. Generally speaking, the size of lace frontal is 13 x4 inch and it runs ear to ear to cover the entire hairline. Lace closure is smaller with the size 4 x4 inch and its main purpose is to close off an install hence the name closure. Closures typically only cover a small size portion at the top or front of an install.

The second difference between them is that lace closure is sewn into the the original hair while lace frontal is generally meant to be bonded in place. While both can be placed either in front or behind the hairline, lace frontal is generally placed in front of the hairline usually because they are bonded. However it is possible for a professional hair stylist to sew a lace frontal behind the hairline using invisible thread.

A lace frontal has its unmatched styling versatility. Wearing a lace frontal can allow you to achieve a styling option that a closure doesn’t; frontals allow you to wear pulled back hairstyles. Remember closures only cover a small portion of the front of the install making it impossible to pull back the sides without exposing tracks. A lace frontal covers the entire hairline and will allow you to achieve a seamless style that you can pull back off of your face.

Depending on your style of choice, a lace frontal may be more appealing than a closure. If you like to pull your hair back then a lace frontal will be best for you. If you simply want to close your install with a natural looking scalp then a lace closure will be the best solution for you. Either way they both will enhance your install by giving it the natural look that we all go for!
