Switching from mainstream cleaners to natural alternatives is honestly one of the easiest steps toward a greener, more natural life.
Throw a few ingredients in a spray bottle and toss that chemical cleaner into the trash.
It’s pretty much that simple!
The benefits far outweigh the 30 seconds of your time that it takes to make this spray.
I like to make my own all-purpose cleaner not only to reduce toxins in my home but it uses ingredients I already use in my home and that saves money as well.
I don’t want to go into it too much and sound preachy but Cleaning products can contain Phthalates, chlorine bleach, ammonia, sodium laureth sulfate, ethoxylated alcohols and fragrance which are all commonly found in household cleaners and are linked to a range of health issues like asthma, cancer, allergies and multiple chemical sensitivities.
Repeated exposure to small amounts of these chemicals can cause long-term health problems.
Kids are especially vulnerable.
This All-Purpose Cleaning Spray is cheap, safe, and effective.
ALL-PURPOSE CLEANING SPRAY
1 cup Water
1 tablespoon Castile Soap or Liquid Dish Soap
10 drops Essential Oil
Add the water, soap and essential oil to a spray bottle. Shake to combine.
The soap has the cleaning power needed.
Essential oils, like tea-tree, lemon, orange, pine or eucalyptus, have anti-microbial properties - they help prevent the growth of disease causing microorganisms. They also are a natural disinfectant and add an amazing scent to your cleaning routine.
I use this everywhere - wipe down my counters with it, clean shelves, walls, faucets, mirrors, windows, fridge and it’s handy for any sticky grimy spots that popped up.
For tougher areas like the stove or bathroom, that might need a little extra cleaning because of grease and grime or mineral deposits, I will add ½ cup of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda to the spray.
White vinegar cuts through grease and grime, dissolves mineral deposits, helps lift stains, and breaks down odors - it does have a strong smell but I find the smell goes away once it is dry.
Baking Soda is a powerful deodorizer and stain remover with anti-bacterial properties.
It’s a simple but super effective combination that works!
Small steps toward a cleaner, greener and healthier life!
