A Designer Handbag a Thing of Beauty and an Investment.

A Designer HANDBAG

I love a designer handbag. To me, a handbag has an air of mystery. I remember as a child the beautiful patent leather handbag my Great Aunt carried. Auntie Maud is a fashion icon to me, and her handbags were the pinnacle of beauty. The mystery was the contents of the handbag, a mint given as a bribe for quietness, a lace-trimmed handkerchief used to wipe a tear or a mess from my mouth, the birthday envelope with a crisp ten-dollar bill. All this has given the handbag a mythical status for me. We all have our reasons for loving fashion, and our own stories bring it to life. No fashion piece has more longevity or is more cherished than a designer handbag.

There are very few things that will make a fashionista gasp more than a designer handbag. Nothing says luxury more than the feel and impeccable workmanship of an iconic designer handbag. These bags are the hallmark of taste, refinement, and style. All luxury brands produce designer bags, choosing one can be difficult. Although these bags come with hefty price tags, they also represent an investment. To be a woman of style, you must have at least one designer handbag in your wardrobe.

A Designer Handbag Is an Investment

Perhaps you already own several designer handbags, maybe you're just entering the market, but the word here is an investment. There is no time like the present to invest in a designer handbag! If you choose carefully something you love and show your bag tender loving care, you can profit from your investment many times over. Many vendors specialize in reselling investment handbags. Many of the bags they sell are vintage or hard-to-find bags. Keeping your bag pristine will increase its value and longevity.

Things to Consider when Purchasing a Designer Handbag

There are many articles and posts on this subject. I add my voice to the conversation, having done my research. I don't think that classic has to be boring and always express your style. In choosing a bag, think of versatility, style, and craftsmanship. The versatility of a bag comes down to color and style

For color, I recommend nude, grey, brown, or black. Neutral handbags can complement so many styles, pieces, and personalities. However, a bag can also be a statement piece. In this category, you might love pastels or a bold statement like red or yellow.

When considering style, I recommend a bag with more structure. It will keep its shape better and stand up to daily use. Try to avoid any bags with large logos. Choose a reputable brand that doesn't scream its place of purchase. Subtlety will ensure your bag remains classic. Consider the amount of hardware on the bag; these bags can be eye-catching they can also be high maintenance. Handbags with lots of chains and studs are flashy but have a lot of elements to go amiss.

Whatever your taste, craftsmanship is essential. Make sure your bag is leather; steer away from trendy fabric inserts, faux fur, or baubles. Buying a well-known brand will help if your bag requires any repairs. In conclusion, keep your bag clean, store it in the dust bag and never leave it on the floor. Remember, your designer handbag is an investment, therefore treat it that way.

     Here are My Choices

       For A Designer Handbag

CHANEL

Since the first days of Chanel, their handbags have been a nod to luxury craftsmanship and style. While a Chanel bag will set you back a bit, they are always worth the investment. A Chanel bag holds its value and often resells for equal or more than the original purchase price. The value of a Chanel bag comes from its design and beauty. Also, what it will add to your wardrobe.

In the world of fashion, some things have achieved legendary status. A tweed Chanel handbag is one such item. I consider the tweed bags by Chanel one of the most iconic accessories in the history of fashion. Therefore, if you are looking for a designer bag that will never go out of style and hold its value, choose this bag.

CHRISTIAN DIOR

Christian Dior is a brand that is synonymous with luxury. The French have produced some of the best fashion the world has seen. The House of Dior is a pinnacle of French design. One of this brand's most iconic pieces is the Lady Dior bag.

The original Lady Dior bag came out in 1994 under the creative direction of Gianfranco Ferré, who called it the Chouchou ("favorite") bag. The Lady Dior bag is a necessity for the best-dressed woman.

The Lady Dior bag is inspired by everything couture. It is made from no less than 144 pieces. The Lady Dior is commonly decorated with a cannage pattern. The cannege was inspired by the Napoleon III chairs once used by Christian Dior to welcome his customers into his atelier

The most discerning customer looking for a designer bag that will last a lifetime needs to look no further than The Lady Dior. When you carry this designer bag, you have a living piece of fashion history.

GUCCI

The Gucci brand originated as a leather goods manufacturer. However, now under the designer, Alessandro Michele Gucci has become the favorite label of the millennials. If you want to carry a Gucci bag, there is one for every taste. Since I am dealing with classic designer handbags, I have highlighted the Jackie handbag.

The hobo-style Constance bag was introduced to the Italian house in 1950. As the story goes, Kennedy's favoring of hobo silhouettes caused her obsession with the bag, resulting in her constantly being photographed with it. The house renamed it the Jackie bag in 1961 when Kennedy began in office.

A rendition of the Jackie bag has been a constant at Gucci. Tom Ford brought it back when he took over the house in 1994. Since that day, the Jackie has been produced in limitless colors and patterns, but the wonderfully relaxed slouch silhouette has remained the same. When looking for a bag that will take you everywhere, select the Jackie and have a timeless classic.

PRADA

The Italian luxury brand Prada was started in 1913 by Mario Prada and his brother Martino as a leather goods shop – Fratelli Prada–in Milan, Italy. Initially, the shop sold animal goods and imported English steamer trunks and handbags. In the following years, Prada perfected the craft of designing their line of leather and nylon bags. Under the leadership of Miuccia Prada, the brand became one of the most influential fashion houses.

Its intellectual universe combines concept, structure, and image through codes that go beyond trends. With a focus on experimentation, its fashion has become a benchmark to those who challenge conventions. Prada bags are one of the most popular designer handbags. The Sidonie has quickly become Prada's new icon of elegance with its sweeping lines, curvy silhouette, and made from the best saffiano leather. This bag is pure luxury.

LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton is probably the most recognized designer bag. Certainly, this is because the brand has used its monogram pattern as its signature. Long before branding became the "it thing" it is today, Louis Vuitton had already perfected it. Indeed the LV's printed on a classic brown cowhide canvas are classic and scream I am a fan. However, Louis Vuitton also creates other less obvious creations.

The workhorse of designer bags, known for durability and, elegance is the Epi style. Epi leather is a Vuitton-specific creation, having a texture with wavy micro-ridges. The Epi has a single monogram stamped into the leather. The Epi leather was first used in the 1920s and was revived many times until it now is a Louis Vuitton classic. The bag, to the touch, has a velvety soft finish, that disguises the fact that it is impenetrable and durable. If you're the woman who is tough on her handbag, this one is for you. The Epi leather looks just as good after a decade of use as it did on its first day. Elegance, style, and longevity who could ask for anything more.

HERMES

No article covering the designer handbag would be complete without covering Hermes. Hermes is a longstanding French luxury brand that is in its 6th generation. The brand originally made saddles and produced its first bag in 1900. The pinnacle of luxury handbags is the Hermes Birkin bag. Created in 1984, the iconic bag boasts as its namesake muse Paris-based British actress Jane Birkin. Its existence was a happy accident, borne out of an exchange between Birkin and former Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas on an Air France flight from Paris to London in the early 1980s.

A recent study shows that the iconic Birkin bag has been a better investment than stocks or gold over the previous 35 years. However, the Birkin comes with a hefty price tag and a six-year waiting list. The bag is made over several days using the company's signature saddle stitch in different hardware finishes and skins from various tanneries. In 2017, a crocodile Himalayan Birkin with diamond finishings was sold in auction at Christie's in Hong Kong for $379,261, coming a long, long way since its $2,000 price tag when the bag debuted in 1984.

IN CONCLUSION

While I'm sure many of you will already own a designer handbag, I encourage those who do not to invest in one. For many others, these bags are out of your budget. Owning a designer bag is a dream for many fashionistas, however there are many other beautiful and more affordable bags on the market. I write to share my knowledge and love of fashion. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please leave comments and share this post with your fashion friends.
