The Longlasting Lipsticks are advertised as creamy, long-wearing lipsticks coming in 13 shades as listed on their website… Although we only counted 12 on the website. Are we crazy? We’ve sat in front of the computer now, literally just counting the shades over and over again. In any case, the lipsticks come in cream and matte finishes, though it’s mostly cream. You can buy these at $3.49 a pop – that’s cheap even by drugstore standards!

Review

After seeing some Youtubers rave about this line, we decided to try it out ourselves. We definitely agree it’s a great lipstick, especially considering it’s price. It’s not drying at all, almost hydrating, and trust us, we’re sensitive to drying formulas. It applies evenly with first application and also goes on smoothly if you need to touch up throughout the day. The lipstick has good pigmentation and depending on what you prefer, you can build it up – it’s not crazy amounts of pigment but definitely still amazing for $3.49. As far as packaging, it’s simple, sleek, black with a matte finish and also has a coloured ring and sticker on the bottom of the packaging, matching the lipstick itself.

While the lipsticks have a lot going for them, they have a few flaws. First of all, and probably biggest drawback would be that they’re far from longlasting. They are still great cream lipsticks, but just as any other cream lipstick they transfer and wear off very quickly. The lipsticks have quite a bit of glossiness to them upon first application but they do dry down a little – not matte but less shine. As well, the lipsticks have a bit of a plastic, old lipstick smell to them. It’s not overpowering and you can’t smell it once you apply it but if you take a whiff of the lipstick, you’ll know what we’re talking about. Although we don’t go around eating lipstick, there’s an old lipstick taste to it, even among brand new lipsticks.

In terms of shade selection, there is a decent number of lipsticks to choose from however most lipsticks are in the pink or purple family. While that makes the lipsticks pretty wearable and good for everyday for the most part (aside from the black lipstick), there are no standout or unique shades – you’ll likely be able to find the shade in another brand or line. As well, the line seems more catered for light to medium skintones and would benefit from having a greater variety of undertones and shades.

If you’re curious to try out the formula or a specific colour for a look, try it out! They aren’t too much of an investment but still great quality for a drugstore lipstick. Let us know if you love it or hate it!
