Makeup Eraser DUPE: Sephora Makeup Remover Cloths

Ciao bellas! How are you doing this lovely week? Have you been looking for an amazing blush recently? Or maybe a little something to give your hair a little TLC? Check out our past few blog posts – we’ve got some fantastic recommendations! This week we have something that’ll help you take off the day – AND it’s a DUPE! Ready for the Mulan inspired photos?! Let’s go!

Description

This story begins when Helen needed a new Makeup remover. She looked high and low for something that would gently remove makeup. From a friend’s recommendation, she tried the Marcelle Gentle Makeup Remover for Sensitive Skin and unfortunately, it was anything but gentle. Her eyes and skin began to sting – definitely not the best reaction… but at least it removed some makeup… right? Really wanting to make this relationship work, she tried it again the next day but had the same response, it just didn’t seem like it was meant to be. The following day, the skin around her eyes were red and raw – she even had rough dry spots around her eyelids!! What happened?! She stopped using it right away but the damage was done – her eyelids have yet to recover and are still drier than the Sahara Desert (it’s been 2 years since the fateful day). Still in search of some sort of a makeup remover, she stumbled across the Makeup Eraser at Sephora one day to see if it was worth the hype. To her surprise, it worked!!! All you had to do was wet the cloth and presto – makeup gone! Always searching for a good bargain though, she found that Sephora had their own line of makeup cloths and it worked!

The Sephora Makeup Remover Cloths, also known as “Black Magic Set of 2 Makeup Remover Cloths,” are two 8×8 machine-washable cloths that help remove makeup just by wetting the cloths with water. No extra products are needed and they can be washed and reused time and time again. They retail for $15 and can be found online or in-store at Sephora.

Review

We were skeptical at first but these cloths are truly “Black Magic.” They work just as well as the original Magic Eraser, which retails for $24, but are almost half the price. It’s crazy, but you truly only need water which means you save money from buying makeup wipes or makeup removers, plus there’s less waste! It takes off long-wear and waterproof makeup incredibly well, anything from waterproof mascara to liquid lipstick. Just to make sure we get every stitch of makeup off, both of us like to double cleanse and go in with our favourite facial cleanser (want us to do a review? ). Helen loves this especially since it’s great for sensitive skin and the cloths are very soft. Once you’ve used the cloths, they can easily be thrown into the washing machine and they’ll come out brand spanking new. They dry really quickly so you can use them multiple times throughout the day if need be. Because they also come in a convenient pouch, they are travel-friendly and great to take on the go since you only need water. One side of the cloth has finer threading, however we find that both sides work equally well in removing makeup.

While the cloths are generally a great buy, there are just a few drawbacks. In comparison to using a cleansing oil or balm, you might find that you’ll tug at your skin a little more. However, compared to a makeup wipe or cotton rounds, it’s generally about the same “tugging” or maybe even less so. As well, the black cloth that comes in the set makes it harder to see the makeup you wipe off, making it a little difficult to tell how clean it is, though the cloth still works just as well as the purple one. Overall, we still highly recommend this product – it’s easy, convenient, budget-friendly, and great for all skin types!

Tip: We recommend buying at least 2 sets so that you always have one on hand throughout the week. We generally use one side of the cloth for every-day makeup and both sides if we’re having a cake face day.

Pros Cons
  • Save $ on makeup removing products
  • Cheaper than the Makeup Eraser
  • Takes off the majority if not all of your makeup
  • Travel friendly
  • Great for sensitive skin
  • Easy to wash
  • Less waste
  • Pulling on your skin a little but still minimal
  • Can’t see the makeup on the black cloth

This has been a holy grail product and we foresee using it for years to come. There has been no wear and tear even after using it for so long. Try it out yourself and let us know what you think!
