I thought I'd share with you what's inside my Makeup Bag at the moment. Obviously, this can change by the season and in the case of eyeshadows, by the day, but as of this moment in time, here it is.
So, what do we have here? Well, these are all my staples, so if I had to travel or stay somewhere overnight, this bag would get me through it. Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't add another eyeshadow palette or two, but I could get by with these items - honestly!
L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation
I have tried lots of different foundations, both high end, and drugstore and I have to say this relatively cheap foundation meets all my everyday needs. It's great for my oily skin, gives a matte finish that is not dull and it has a good even finish. I don't have to use a finishing powder with this, so it cuts out another step in my routine.
Face Atelier Concealer Duo in Light
This is my favorite concealer and I use. it under my foundation on days when I have some extra redness or discoloration. I don't use it every day, but when I do it's creamy and applies really nicely, covers blemishes and you only need a little, so it lasts forever.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment
This is honestly the best under eye concealer I have ever tried. I used to use NARS concealer which was great, but this one, for me is better. It is rich and creamy and goes on over my foundation without disturbing it and it never accentuates the fine lines under my eyes. I love this and it's half the price of NARS!
Kat Von D Shade +Light Contour Palette
This is really too large for a Makeup bag, but it does have the perfect contour shade for me. I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago that I have almost used up this shade, so once it is gone, I will replace it with a refillable single and that will be much more manageable.
NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette
This is my goto highlighter palette, so, even though it is on the large side, I do use most of the shades, so it has its place in my makeup bag.
I love NARS blushes as they have great pigment and last ages on me. I find that some blushes just fade really quickly, but this one stays put for most of the day. I have several shades, but this Orgasm is one that I keep on me as it fits any occasion.
NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base
This is my favorite eyeshadow primer. Primer is a must for me as I have very oily eyelids and this one has been my holy grail for many years. It keeps my eyeshadow in place longer than any other I've tried.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow
This is my favourite brow product and I use the taupe shade. It is so easy to use and I can get a subtle look, or something more dramatic if I feel daring.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
I do have quite a few mascaras as with my very fair lashes I most definitely need mascara. My favorite changes quite often, but at the moment I really like this one from Tarte as it lengthens and gives volume without clumping, I hate clumping! It lasts all day but is easy to remove, so another plus. You will also see my Tweezerman eyelash curler, which I use every day.
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Singles
As I said, my choice of eyeshadow varies by the day, but if I had to grab a some for a few days, then this is a good choice of shades for me. These singles are in one of my Z-palettes, so compact and handy to use. The shades in this palette are: Wisteria, Pop Culture, Curfew, Vintage, Prom Night, Cherry Cola, Beaches & Cream, Creme Brulee and Mocha.
I have a lot of makeup Brushes, I mean a lot, but there are a couple of dozen that I use on a regular basis, but these ones are my absolute favourites. For my eyes, I have four Hakuhodo brushes, that are just the best brushes I've ever come across. If I could replace all my brushes with this brand I would, but I can't afford to, unfortunately. I have J5523 which is the one I simply could not do without, B142, B004G and J146.
My other eye brushes are my Anastasia Beverly Hills no 14 which I use for my brows and my Luxie 215 Small Angle brush for eyeshadow under my eye and black shadow above my lashline as a liner.
My face brushes include my Royal Langnickel Silk Pro C210 concealer brush, my favourite foundation brush which is the Optical Blurring brush from Urban Decay. I believe they have changed the handle since I got this, so it looks slightly different now. The remaining brushes are the So Susan fan brush, BH Cosmetics contour brush and my Eco Tools Tapered Blush brush.
Ona normal makeup day, I might use several other brushes, but these ones will see me through and deserve to be in my makeup bag.
So, there you have it, my current makeup bag. I should note that there are no lipstick in this bag. I tend to keep two or three shades in my handbag, so that I have them when I'm out and about, so keep them separate from these.
So, what’s in your makeup bag? I’d love to know and feature you on the blog. Get in touch.
