I love Shoppers Drug Mart and their points system as every now and then it allows me to splurge on products that I would normally consider too expensive.
This weekend Shoppers Drug Mart had a points event which means that points that you accumulate from purchases can be used to buy products and you get a little bit extra too. In my case, I had just over 50,000 points which normally equates to $85 worth of products, but for this event, they were giving $105 in value, so essentially that is $20 of extra goodies. I also had a gift card which had another $35 on it, so potentially I could spend $140 without any actual money changing hands. Now, that's the sort of spending I like!
I knew this event was happening, so I did some homework beforehand trying to decide what to buy. Now I'm in my early 50's, I have decided that 2018 is going to be the year I start looking after my skin. I've always used a cleanser, moisturizer etc, but now I really need to take it a step further. Those fine lines and wrinkles are not going away unless I help them! So, after quite a bit of research, I came across a company called Jouviance who get good reviews for their products and they are Canadian. I decided to give their anti-aging products a try. So, this is what I bought with my points and gift card.
Jouviance Restructiv SRD Callogen Boost
This is their Retinol wrinkle-filling serum, which promises to increase volume, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and restore a radiant, youthful appearance. Well, who can say no to that? Also, it comes pretty pink packaging! What? Don't judge me!
This normally retails for $55 CND, but Shoppers had it on sale for $44, so that went into my basket.
Jouviance Restructiv SRD Focus FX
This product is their Retinol eye serum. This one promises that I'll notice smooth, lifted, radiant eyes after just two weeks of use. I'm all for that.
Again this was in the sale for $36 down from $45.

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
If you read my blog you will know that I fell in love with this cleanser after getting a deluxe sample from Sephora. You can read my review here. I loved it so much I decided to buy the full-size version. This was $28, no sale this time.
L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
I have tried dozens of foundations and love some, and hate a lot, but this is the only drugstore foundation that I have tried that meets all my needs. It is great for my oily skin, gives a matte finish that is not dull and it has a good even finish. For the price of $20, you just cannot go wrong.
NYX Micro Brow Pencil
I usually use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow for my brows and love the stuff. However, I'm always looking for new products to try and after seeing great reviews for this product decided I needed to give it a go. Now, I originally purchased the shade called Blonde, because I am most definitely blonde, but when I used it, it made my brows look orange, I mean really orange. As this wasn't the look I was going for, I took this back and swapped it out for another shade and was advised to go for Taupe. So, I'll have to see how that one works. Bargain price of $13.50.
So, that is my points haul. There is a total value of just over $140, but by cashing in my points worth $105 and using my gift card, I ended up spending around $7 out-of-pocket which was basically the tax, which you have to pay, regardless.
So far, I am very pleased with my $7 haul. I will use all the products and review them later. Hopefully by then I will have taken 20 years off my face with all these new lotions and potions!
