9 Apps Design Guidelines for Android Screen

In these days, some developers jumped on the mobile train for fortune and game- they’re right in managing it so- a market is not growing as quickly. Unique and great ideas related to Graphic Design are emerging.  When you launch your first app or game, you’ll get comments from users. Every input has value.

Tips for Graphic Design for Android

Today, we’ll provide you nine guidelines or tips on ‘What are App design guidelines for different sizes of Android Screen?’

Start with Relative Layout

If you are designing apps for Android Screen, the secret is positioning items in relative forms. It means don’t use the absolute reference.  We use relative layout to explore container for mobile apps that we can design.

Don’t use hard-code image sizes

This will be a big mistake made by the designer is to specify hard-coded image sizes. To avoid it we use ‘match-parent’ and ‘wrap-content’ as the dimensions for height and width, rather than hard-code sizes.

Use density independent pixels

If we specify real values, you avoid pixels; however define values in density independent pixels.  It is the form of measurements that an Android –SDK offers for defining dimensions. This technique allows programmers to deal in terms of different sizes (small, medium, large, extra-large) and densities (low, medium, high, extra-high) rather than specific sizes and solutions.

Take benefit of resource folders

Scaling bitmaps leads to poor outputs; Android allows us to mention alternative bitmaps to be used for various densities. This tractability is not limited to only a density. It may be used for different types of resources.

Leverage XML shapes draw able

You should use XML to define shapes as mentioned in Google.  You need to maintain different resolutions; this way provides lower overhead than using assets- minimizing the size of the file of APK. Now you may create buttons, lines and entire view.

Use 9-Patch image for speech bubble and button

These are standard images specially background images like a speech bubble or a button with a hidden group of pixels which defines some parts of images can be stretched.  Thus, doesn’t matter of orientation of screen or size- length of block inside the image (in right proportions).

Reply on a real time preview in Editor

Android’s layout editor provides us useful and real time preview of ‘how a design will appear on screen (all sizes).

Manage support for older devices with resource folder

The flexibilities of resource folder also called API level. It offers a meaningful means of handling full support for devices. Android can automatically ensure old devices.

Deploy fragments for tablets

Developing for Tablet gives more challenges as it looks great on mobile as they are scaled up-to-size of any tablet.

No doubt that fragmentation presents a development and Graphic Design challenge.  Particularly, testing is done on different devices. It can be tough to reproduce devices, errors-specially an older hardware that you can’t have in an arsenal of devices. But the wide range and screen resolutions are also manageable challenge.
