From a Supporting Wife to a Successful CEO

Now a successful CEO, Nancy Vargas’s entry into the business world was quite interesting.

PC: DH2 Chauffeured Transportation

A decade back, Nancy’s husband asked her to help him with a few things pertinent to his business. She told Ramon that she thought it was a small project and she would move on after completing it.

But, in reality, it was the moment when her entrepreneurial journey took off.

So 14 years later, here I am. The project has not ended. The project has just started.

Fast forward to the present, she is working as CEO of DH2 Chauffeured Transportation, and her husband is COO of the company.

Under her leadership, the company became MWBE Certified with The City and State of New York, The Port Authority of NY/NJ, and Nassau County.

Nancy Vargas is a community builder and currently serving on the Board of The JFK Rotary Club. She is an active member of multiple communities, such as The JFK and The Queens Chamber of Commerce, The Long Island Hispanic Chamber, and more.

3 Big Tips from Nancy Vargas to Grow Your Business

During her interview, she shared many tidbits that can help your small business grow.

Here are three tips from the interview:

1. Advocate for Yourself

When you start your business, you need to go all out to spread the word about your business. Also, you should leave no stone unturned to make your presence felt among your prospects and customers.

Attend relevant events in your industry, do podcasts, give interviews, and write guest posts to improve your visibility among your audience.

As rightly pointed out by Nancy Vargas,

You need to advocate for yourself, right? No one's going to do that better than you.

When you show up regularly, your audience will start noticing you, which will build trust. Eventually, it will help you grow your business.

She seconded,

The fact that you're showing up, the fact that you're there. And really being bold about the fact that when you're in that setting, you know, you want to do business with them in that particular setting.

2. Diversify

As a small business owner, you should always try to diversify your ways to make money. This is because you may never know when a particular stream of revenue gets hit.

COVID-19 forced Nancy Vargasto to explore other avenues of earning.

She said,

Business owners need to understand that it is important to look at different streams of revenue because if one business is not doing so great, or you didn't have a great month, you have another business.

3. Do Active Networking

Networking is critical for small business success. With strategic networking, you can build mutually beneficial connections, know the latest business trends, identify the best business practices, and more. Even Nancy met Ramon through Adrian's Network.

If you want to maximize your networking success, you should think about adding value to the event. Solely focusing on your business may not help you get the best out of the event.

Nancy Vargas advised,

You go into networking, not really thinking about what you're going to get out of it. But what you bring into that networking, and I think that business will just flow.
