Python List len() Method



Hello guys! Welcome back to another section of my Tutorial on Python. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the Python List len() method.

Python List len() method returns the number of elements in a list.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python List len() method -

len( list)

Parameter Details

  • list - List for which the number of elements is to be counted.

Return Value

It returns the number of elements in the list.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

list1
, list2 = [123, 'xyz', 'zara'], [456, 'abc']
print "First list Length : ", len(list1)
print "Second list length : ", len(list2)

Output
Below is the output of the above example -

First list length :  3
Second list length : 2
