First of all, you must know that If you are using Salesforce for your e-commerce business you can go for Salesforce commerce cloud which provides you the ability to manage your e-commerce business. You can manage your products, sell them and provide offers using this cloud.

When you install Salesforce, there comes by default some modules that will store your data as done in databases. These are called standard modules for eg- Leads, Accounts, Contacts, Opportunity etc. Leads are those people who have shown some interest in your product and have signed up or filled some kind of form to provide their information. All the lead data is stored through forms in the modules for further use. Contacts are the one who has looked into your product and are willing to use it, they are then contacted and attached to company accounts.

Same way there are several other features that come up by default in salesforce. But Sometimes, your business requirements change and you need to add some modules on your own like tracking of transactions, Invoices etc. These needs can be met by adding custom objects.

We here mention a list of customizations that can be done in Salesforce:

Whenever managing an order, standard tasks like scheduling order as per date and timing, storing the orders etc are accomplished. But you can add different fields and improve its functionality. You can add custom fields and track the transactions, add subscriptions and invoices. By adding custom fields you allow the user to check into their activities, what transactions they completed, type of subscriptions added, modifying the subscriptions etc.

You can create new list views to record your contacts, documents, and campaigns. For eg- opportunities below a particular amount, leads with specific origin etc. these records are maintained and later used for email marketing

Salesforce has a personalization engine that allows users to create custom personalized page experiences per user.

You can Build your own themes using force.com and site.com as front end and communities as back-end.

You can create your own components through developer console communities and use any framework you prefer eg-Bootstrap.

The communities store the user data and provide them login access to check into their accounts, look into their activities and make some changes in them. Communities basically act as a user interface. The admin accesses the Salesforce and can also do customizations in communities to provide them access to multiple functions. For eg- it customizes the community to allow the user to crop their profile picture, change their account dashboard color etc. These customizations can be done by admin using aura components.

When you manage your leads in leads management, you get complete data stored. Now you can add custom fields and track those leads in form of graphs and charts. Visual representations help measure the criteria’s more efficiently.

These customizations can help you get a clear picture of how useful Salesforce is for your growing business. From managing prospects to becoming clients, all user activities are handled by Salesforce. You can make several custom changes as per your business requirements and change them after periods with changing requirements.
