1.How would you describe your design style?
I consider my style as a mix of cartoon and realism. I just love both styles, so I try to mix it in my own way.
2.How long have you been a designer for?
I guess my journey as an illustrator started when I was a little boy trying to open my favorite cartoons. I’ve been working professionally as a designer for about 10 years now.
3.Where are you from?
I’m from Bahia, a very sunny and colored state in Brazil, rich with beautiful beaches where we also have a lot of African cultural influence. I believe that is the reason I like to paint very colored illustrations with blue skies.
4.What is your favorite project?
5.When did you know you wanted to be a designer? Was there an “ah-ha” moment?
I still have this moment clear in my mind. I was fourteen and I was flipping through a magazine when I bumped into a caricature. I was amazed and totally in love with that art, so, at that moment I decided: “I want to do it!”
6.Describe your creative design process?
I have different creative processes. One of my favorite for creating my characters is to work with the colors, creating a volumetric basic shape and trying out different designs over it, simulating a sculptural process. Here is a link to a video showing a bit of it .
7.Where do you find inspiration?
In my development as an artist I’m always trying to evolve my perception. Physically and spiritually speaking, I always want to improve the way I see and feel the world. This way, anything can be an Inspiration. The most important for me, is not where the inspiration is coming from, but how I’m using it. What I’m giving back to the world. I like to be connected with positive thoughts, ideas and feelings, so even a sad inspiration can become a funny or a positive illustration.
8.What techniques and software tools do you use to keep yourself organized?
To keep myself organized the most important tool for me is my wife’s brain.
She is my schedule, agent, and secretary, besides being a good inspiration.
9.Who would be your dream client and why?
Myself, for sure!
I’m currently walking in this direction, finding more time for my own projects and ideas each time. As an artist I want to share my world with the rest of the world.
10.Mac or PC?
