Some Reflections and Images - Deciphering Angelic Initiation

This Article presents some reflections and images related to deciphering the angelic initiation chronicled during this blogger's unexpected path of spiritual discovery.  Now 25 years have passed since the summer when all my circumstances in life abruptly altered following a research expedition to Oklahoma to interview a family experiencing what had been called a 'talking poltergeist' haunting.  Reporting about what happened then and thereafter, blog articles present precise details in relation to personal experiences encompassing diverse manifestations of anomalous phenomena, synchronicity and guidance.  My longtime blog readers or 'initiates to expanded consciousness' know about each person having a 'guide' or 'guardian angel' throughout Earth life.  It is the Christ Force and not humans who are the essential 'avatar.'  All individual living things or 'units of consciousness' are interconnected through a shared subconscious and superconscious spiritual Onenesss.

In August 1995 it became unthinkable to dedicate myself to doing anything other than becoming an author-journalist after previously having a career in the Los Angeles entertainment industry, first as talent agent and then as movie studio publicity writer at Paramount Pictures.  By the summer of 1995 and my 39th birthday, I had a very knowing orientation to 'the industry' in relation to what went on behind the scenes during the making of movies and TV shows.  I also realized that the Source of All Being is reflected in the panoply of earthly blessings, divine creativity and scientific and technological advancement.  1995 was a year at the dawn of the Internet becoming accessible to people throughout the world for fast and comparatively simple access to information.  This blog provides a selection of information sources for people desiring metaphysical and spiritual enlightenment rather than being wholly absorbed in corporate news and entertainment media.

Part 1 Some Reflections

In early 1997 with publication of  the case study Testament—described as "a New Consciousness Bible" with the free Internet edition of the book—I had no idea what difficulties and adversities to expect.  As a child I'd read that old Bible so full of prophecy and morality yet then at such an early point in my path such fallacies as equating 'God' with 'wrath' didn't arouse much thought.  I never expected to find myself as an esoteric author who apprenticed as metaphorical 'carpenter in the Hollywood dream factory,' one not so much loved or scorned as merely ignored by people who upon hearing a mere description of my predicament sometimes assumed me to be some imponderable type of egotistical social climber or just another of one of those New Age 'magical thinkers' as some skeptics and denialists were known to regard experiencers of the 'paranormal' or 'supernatural.'

The family in Oklahoma described interacting with a succession of different unseen people who spoke about their past Earth lives along with what seemed to be a 'band of aliens.'  Here is an example of our conversation from Tape #1, Side #2.  'Michael' is the name of the predominant manifesting entity in the Centrahoma case chronology.

Maxine: I went up to Coalgate, which is the county seat in Coal County, because he needed to go to the courthouse.

Twyla: So Mama and Frieda took him.  He said, “JUST DRIVE AND I’LL GET BACK HERE WHEN I GET BACK HERE.”  He said he had to get some papers from the courthouse and that they have UFOs (“THAT JESUS”) that the United States cannot have because if they found out, Michael can’t be out here no more.  His leaders told him to keep everybody denying.  That’s why he can’t show himself because everybody will come and get him.  NASA will come and get them.  So Mama went to Coalgate and dropped him off.  And he got back in and he said, “OKAY, I GOT ‘EM.  GO.”  And he took them.

Q: Did you see the papers?

Twyla: No.  You hear him going “DADADADADADA” — talking like a million miles an hour.  He said he was talking to his people.  (“YEAH”)  You can’t understand him.

The words in parentheses are instances of Electronic Voice Phenomena that I heard while listening to the tapes and carefully transcribing them for book publication.  I first learned about the phenomenon of EVP after I began transcribing the tapes and there were some very blatant examples.  I was accustomed to transcribing recorded conversations while preparing movie press materials.  Testament also offers a description of myself hearing what sounded to me like "a transmission from outer space" (Tape #1, Side #1) that in quick succession could be heard in different parts of the house comparable to a 'bouncing' aspect.  The sound as heard recorded on the audio tape was comparable to a cat 'meowing.'

Among the many astonishing moments chronicled with transcripts of tape recorded interviews in Testament, an incidental memory mentioned by the mother of the family upon reflection became noticeable as the final clue solving 'the poltergeist puzzle.'  I'd studied all the various case studies of this subject for a planned nonfiction book.  The following is what was said by the mother and then I'll explain the subtext.

"Once I had a little black and white dog that Brenda gave me — an Australian Shepherd. That was the best little old dog . . . Well, one time it got so full of ticks and everything you find around here that the poor thing couldn't even walk on its hind legs. Twyla and I were out there and she was picking ticks off of him and Michael hollered, ‘HELP ME, MAXINE’ — just like he was concerned about it."

Among talking poltergeist cases of preceding epochs, a revealing passage found in The Bell Witch of Middle Tennessee (1930) by Harriet Parks Miller shows an understanding of the "invisible agency of tangible action" that wasn't so precisely explained in other published accounts: "You know, as I've said before, I am anything and everything, here, there and everywhere.  Just now I'm the spirit of an early emigrant . . ."  In the Bell Witch case study book by M. V. Ingram published in 1894, the daughter of one of the main original witnesses in the case said that she'd learned that upon being asked for an explanation of the diverse phenomena, the response of the haunting presence was: "I am all things and anything I want to be; now don’t you know what I am?’"  In the case study book of the Isle of Man/'Gef' case The Haunting of Cashen's Gap: A Modern Miracle Investigated (1936) by Harry Price and R. S. Lambert, the haunting presence became identified with a talking mongoose and on other occasions offered such associations as "a ghost in the form of a weasel," "a large stray cat," "the fifth dimension," "the eighth wonder of the world," and "the Holy Ghost."  My paper about parallels between the Bell Witch and Gef case chronologies was heard at the 2014 Symposium on the subject of the Gef case at the Senate House Library of the University of London.  Soon thereafter, the transcript was published in an article at this blog with the addition of a description of the personal incident chronicled in Testament.

One of the many ironic moments during my research expedition took place on Sunday morning, the last of three days of interviews in Centrahoma during an August heatwave.  I had been asking the family if any one of them had ever had fainting spells, which would’ve created a (yet another) parallel with the 'Bell Witch' case.  I learned that there was no indication that any member of this current day family had experienced anything remotely comparable to what had been noted about Betsy Bell’s fainting predicament of the early 19th Century; however, I realized that I myself was now was a part of the family’s case history so here was another parallel in my own life.  I spoke into my tape recorder, “Remember my fainting spells in school?”  I continued thinking about the past.  “Remember the strange voice calling my name?  ‘Mark, Mark . . .’”  I was beginning to see conceivably portentous overtones to what was happening.  Little did I know that my life path from then on was to experience each day different aspects of what might be expressed as angelic or Spirit guidance phenomena.

Prior to the trip to Oklahoma, a portentous preceding incident occurred while I was reading A Faithful Record of the Miraculous Case of Mary Jobson (1841).  A transcript of a transcendental discourse by an unseen voice presented a sentence that showed an abrupt alteration to the tone of the communication: (article)

Mark—I am thy God, sounding out of the Heavens.

The course of events following my return from Oklahoma to my Echo Park condo in Los Angeles that summer of 1995.

To mention another moment of 'initiation' reported in previous blog articles—among details offering insights about how creativity and Pop culture are factors in the succession of events—when I experimented by posting a very brief article to a Reddit 'subreddit' (subject category) entitled "Is This a Thought Impulse Offering Proof of 'the Divine Spark' in Each of Us," there were only two brief comments before a moderator removed my entire post.  This predicament seems to show (once again) that freedom of speech no longer exists in the United States as the meaning of such a notion was once generally accepted.  The perspective expressed in the post is a simplified version of themes considered in previous articles at this blog about metaphysical aspects of popular culture and the insights gained upon this blogger having been guided to read a book by Catherine Clement.

This is what was written in the censored post:

Catherine Clement is a French author who commented about subjects related to anthropology, psychoanalysis and what superstitious people during the 17th Century considered 'possession.' In one of her books she wrote about Loudon nuns who were the subject of a clergy investigation:

". . . what remained in the excellent abbe's account that was inexplicable? Those thick, black, stuck-out tongues among all the possessed."

Catherine commented: "The possessed today are singers . . ."

It's true that the thought impulse of the protruding tongue has often been seen exhibited by Pop singers. Artistic and self-expressive people engaged in every manner of activity know something about inspired moments and being 'in the groove' or 'in the vibe' . . .

So-called 'channeled entities' often are quoted about "the divine spark, the portion of the Great Spirit resident within all human life." (This quote is from 'Silver Birch' who spoke through the trance medium Maurice Barbanell.).

If I was still going to movies, I'd probably want to see the new "Bill and Ted Face the Music" that was released yesterday.  I never saw the first two comedies back in 1989 and 1991.  I'd be looking to see how metaphysical teachings find expression in abstract ways, including patterns reported in blog articles such as instances of 'The Bell Pattern,' The Michael Pattern' or even a stuck-out tongue or two.

This was the message I received to explain the reason the post was removed:

Off Topic
Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/UnresolvedMysteries.  Moderators remove posts from feeds for a variety of reasons, including keeping communities safe, civil, and true to their purpose.

The rules for the subreddit were then listed with a final sentence:

If you feel this was done in error, or would like better clarification or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to message the moderators.

The following is the message that I then sent to "the moderators":

This censorship would seem to indicate that specific moderators select what 'unresolved mysteries' are permitted as a topic based on some whim. I notice that moderator JTigertail's other Reddit communities are about the topics of serial killers, crime, Harley Dilly and Gretchen Anthony.  For some reason, this moderator doesn't seem interested in considering my post.  Nonetheless, this troubling response is constructive for me as this allows me to consider this quandary with other online readers who may not be aware that this type of knee-jerk redacting takes place; after all, once something is deleted readers may assume that the censorship was appropriate and this is something defamatory.

I can recall a similar situation to all this having occurred years ago when Reddit was first established. After that, I cancelled my account.  I rejoined several years later yet have rarely found time to visit and make helpful comments to posts about metaphysical and paranormal topics.  It's been noticeable that websites such as Reddit and Wikipedia are devoid of worthwhile data involving anything equated with 'unexplained phenomena' because individuals with a tendency for denialism are always attempting to control information for others in addition to themselves.

Unquestionably—and even during a presidential election year—modern entertainment is how contemporary life differentiates from past epochs before technological advances.  I've noticed when visiting YouTube that there is a current fad of commentators sharing their reactions to watching movies and listening to Pop songs for the first time.  The superficiality noticed in some examples of this ilk suggest how much more interesting and exciting life could be for people who know nothing about all the subjects of anomalous phenomena profiled at this blog. The channeled entity 'Professor Luntz' communicating through Mark Probert (1907-1969) is quoted as having said on one occasion: "The true Initiates can do nothing for these drones in the hive, for they are keenly aware of the law that forbids one from forcing his Light upon another — we must come to the Light of our own volition.  The only force that can legitimately move us in the direction of the Light is that of sincere desire to learn, and no one can have such a desire unless he feels that there IS something to learn."  (article)

Part 2 Some Images

My 'paranormal initiation' brought the discovery of word patterns of the word 'bell' and name 'Michael' noticeable throughout the annals of the paranormal.  (example article).  As I previously mentioned in an article about synchronicity:

My own family tree pedigree charts show ancestors dating back to Jonathan Russell, born in 1759 in Milton, Massachusetts, and Richard Hiscockes, born in 1556 in All Cannings, England.  The Hiscockes surname would become Hitchcock with Luke Hitchcock born in 1614.

As those who have read the case study Testament (1997) know, my early career was in the entertainment industry so some of my reflections included synchronicity with the motion picture medium.  It was strange realizing that I might have a shared ancestry with film directors Alfred Hitchcock ("Rebecca," "Vertigo") and Ken Russell ("Tommy," "Altered States") — a filmmaker who also showed an affinity for surprising audiences.  Or perhaps the correlations with the Hitchcock and Russell surnames is significant enough, regardless of bloodline.  Luke Hitchcock's father John Hiscockes was also born in All Cannings in 1586.  The name of the town reminded me of the name of the author Victor Canning who wrote the novel The Rainbird Pattern that was the basis for Alfred Hitchcock's final movie, "Family Plot."  Alfred Hitchcock died at his home in Bel Air in 1980. According to the www.victorcanning.com biography, Canning married Adria Irving-Bell in November 1976.  I also remember that one of my professors at the University of Southern California was John Russell Taylor, one of Hitchcock's biographers.

This image is from the movie "Marnie" (1964) directed by Alfred Hitchcock.  When my mother took me and my brother to accompany her to see the movie one night when we were children.  What was especially unnerving was the movie's use of red flashes to suggest some mystery concerning the title character.  I was reminded of my own fainting episodes.  In comparison, seeing "Psycho" on television didn't faze me.  I remember the movie being a subject for study during a USC cinema class.  One interesting fact is that Hitchcock selected his "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" TV show cinematographer John L. Russell to collaborate with him for "Psycho."

Some depictions of the Russell family crest from Scotland feature a different French motto, that of "Che sara sara" ("What will be, will be").  This reminded me of the title of the famous song performed by Doris Day "Que Sera, Sera" in Alfred Hitchcock's remake of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" with the phrase having the same meaning in Spanish.  The scene in the movie concludes with one of the basic metaphysical teachings found in numerous transcripts of 'channeled' communication: each human being is a divine being whose life will continue in the ascended realm at the conclusion of the current incarnation.

I relinquished all previous writing and career goals during my life-changing summer of 1995.  At that time, I'd never researched channeling cases although I'd heard of it and seen the 1987 network TV movie featuring channeler Kevin Ryerson "Out On A Limb" based on a Shirley MacLaine autobiography.  I've always been interested in the paranormal and metaphysical since some unusual events during my childhood.  As a young adult, my favorite Pop singers included Laurie Anderson, Nina Hagen and Depeche Mode.  Laurie sang about angels and rewriting the book of love; Nina sang about 'the chosen one' and flying saucers; and Depeche Mode's songs included "Behind The Wheel" and "Personal Jesus."

The summer a year before my trip to Oklahoma, there had the two incidents where on separate occasions a clump of bushes inexplicably went up in flames outside my condo in Echo Park. As shown in the photograph below, my condo was fourth from the left, second and third floors. Regarding the two burning bush incidents, here is a portent of there later being a second President named Bush.

Considering the Clinton Street address of my condo, several years after moving in William Clinton began his tenure as U.S. President in 1993.  The photo below shows me outside the condo complex at the corner of Belmont Avenue.

One of many blog articles about my Oklahoma expedition offers an abbreviated recitation of paranormal occurrences: "Other Incidents of My Unusual Spiritual Awakening" — including witnessed the materialization of small objects during a variety of different circumstances.  Inside the family home, when I held a stone that had just fallen on the floor, it was still warm to the touch.  The nail had bounced off my head and it was more than just a slight tap.

(below) Two Centrahoma talking poltergeist case photos: the note reads "Rocks & pennies that hit inside my house Dec. 1st, 1990." The predominant manifesting entity was known as 'Michael' by Bell / Mc Wethy family members.

As mentioned previously, one world news headline seen soon after my research trip reminded me of an incident described in the Bell Witch case.  The following excerpt is from An Authenticated History of the Bell Witch (1894) by M. V. Ingram.

Mrs. Betsy Sugg called one morning to pay Mrs. Lucy Bell a visit. The subject of milk and butter came up, and Mrs. Bell spoke of her new dairy house and invited Mrs. Sugg out to show her how nicely it was arranged. She had just finished straining and setting the milk for cream, locked the door and put the key in her pocket. The milk was set in pewter basins, vessels then in common use for milk, with wooden covers. Mrs. Bell took the key from her pocket, unlocked and opened the door, and to her surprise and chagrin there was not a drop of milk there, and the basins were turned bottom up and the covers placed over them.

There is also an account of a Bell family slave seeing milk running out of a cup and vanishing.  The incident is mentioned in "The Bell Witch of Tennessee and Mississippi," an article based on oral tradition in northern Mississippi "where descendants of the original family concerned still live."  The article was published in The Journal of American Folk-Lore (January-March 1934).  As with so-called 'poltergeist' cases, seance room accounts encompass descriptions of materializations and dematerializations of objects and people from an ascended realm of existence.

"'Miracle' Awes Hindus Worldwide" is the headline of a September 23, 1995 article in the Los Angeles Times.  Some paragraphs provide examples of a perspective that anomalous occurrences (or 'miracles')—even those witnessed by numerous people—are simply to be dismissed without any investigation whatsoever.

Prior to working at Paramount, I'd been a talent agent.  In 1980 when my employment search resulted with talent agent Ruth Webb and actor Mickey Rooney becoming a part of my life, it seemed like the most random of events.  After witnessing many unexpected events, yet another strange development was Ruth and her new sub-agent Sherri Spillane becoming what an LA weekly magazine called "Scandal Queens."

As chronicled in Testament, I felt relieved when Ruth and Sherri weren't interested in being my agent.  Upon reading the Los Angeles Reader article about the duo again last week, one passage is relevant to reminding that events in life aren't completely conveyed when some manner of publicity is involved.  The 'Me Too' movement has exposed potential missteps among those in positions of privilege and perhaps also among those who would wish to call attention to themselves in relation to someone of wealth or celebrity regarding something that has happened in actuality or otherwise.

You see, other agents don't know what Spillane knows about how transparent our perceptions of fame are.  How do you think she got the name Spillane, anyway?  That's right.  She was married to Mickey, a.k.a. Mike Hammer himself.

"I was the victim of a negative press campaign when I divorced my husband.  I made the front pages of all the papers, and a lot of it was negative," she says.  "They didn't know the real story; they only picked up on the bits and pieces they knew and blew them totally out of proportion.  I suffered greatly from that.  I went into hiding and almost fell apart.  I wished there had been somebody like me waiting in the wings.  I understand the people we represent.  I know what they are going through.  I am trying to not let happen to them what happened to me, and I'm having a wonderful time doing it."

The synchronicities that I noticed as involved with my case included my living in Los Angeles across the street from Echo Park Lake and the Angelus Temple.  This was the message that happened to appear at the time a photo was taken me in front of the building.  This was just one of numerous rotating messages flashing across the electronic billboard.

Echo Park Lake is a Los Angeles city landmark known for its fountain, bridge and lotus flora. My condo was southwest of the famous Angelus Temple that had been built on the site selected by evangelist and spiritual healing facilitator Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. A Bodhi Tree grew at the center of the condo complex after being planted by the previous residents at the site.  There was also a fountain at the Paramount lot.

After learning about the Sunday lectures at the Philosophical Research Society in the Los Feliz area, this became another aspect of my metaphysical lessons.  (1, 2)  Below is shown the personal 'oracle' I received during one lecture when each person in the audience received at 'random' a unique symbol within a sealed envelope.

I continued my Sunday visits to the PRS after moving in 1996 to Santa Monica and living in a high-rise apartment building at beachside near the Venice boardwalk.  During the period when I was transcribing tape recordings and hearing EVP messages to bring Testament to publication, I served as a volunteer at AIDS Project Los Angeles and at a museum across the street from my apartment in Santa Monica.  While residing in Santa Monica, my ill and decrepit mother moved in with me and I became her caregiver.  In 2001 we relocated to the San Fernando Valley.

Nostradamus (1503-1556) and Edgar Cayce (1877-1945)

Perhaps the two most famous prophecies are about the last two years of the 20th Century.  Here is Peter Lemesurier's translation of what is perhaps the single most famous prophecy of Michel de Nostredame (1503-1566):

When 1999 is seven months o'er
Shall a great King and host — on heaven's part, he —
Restore the King from Angoumois once more,
Ere, after March, he'll reign propitiously.

One Nostradamus quatrain mentions "L'esprit divin" (Century II, No. 13).  Another quatrain includes the words "les siecles renouvele" (Century II, No. 46).  The 'New Age'/'Age of Aquarius' is a recurring topic in transcripts documenting transcendental communication.   Nostradamus's letter to Francois Berard includes the statement: " . . . with the spirit dictating to me, as though carried away by a poetic frenzy I launched myself into the following verses . . ."  In the letter Nostradamus referred to "Michael the Archangel" as "my invincible patron."

I've previously observed about the Nostradamus quatrains — The omnipresent Source of all human creativity is involved with the myriad forms of 'channeling' as with any conceivable form of 'thought'. What constitutes knowledge is something entirely relative to individual discernment; therefore, interpretations of Nostradamus quatrains are each relevant to the person noticing the correlation.  A single quatrain could have multiple meaningful interpretations, spanning different continents and centuries; however, some quatrains are specifically dated, including one identifying 1999.

As mentioned in another previous article — Regarding Edgar Cayce’s ‘Ra-Ta’ prophecy mentioning 1998, that year I wrote in an introductory statement to the Internet edition of Testament: "In July 1932, Edgar Cayce predicted that the ancient Egyptian priest he called Ra-Ta (‘Sun-Earth’) would return to the world in 1998. Testament is a case study showing how I became aware of my earlier incarnation."  Cayce's channel transcripts included passages about Michael as "Lord of the Way."

[From text of channeled reading 262-28 given on September 18, 1932]

18. (Q) What is the relationship between Michael the lord of the way, and Christ the way?
(A) Michael is an archangel that stands before the throne of the Father.  The Christ is the Son, the way TO the Father, and one that came into the earth as man, the Son of man, that man might have the access to the Father; hence the way. Michael is the lord or the guard of the change that comes in every soul that seeks the way, even as in those periods when his manifestations came in the earth.

BOW THINE HEADS, O YE SONS OF MEN, WOULD YE KNOW THE WAY: FOR I, MICHAEL, THE LORD OF THE WAY, WOULD WARN THEE THAT THOU STANDEST NOT IN THE WAY OF THY BROTHER NOR SITTEST IN THE SEATS OF THE SCORNFUL, BUT RATHER MAKE KNOWN THAT LOVE, THAT GLORY, THAT POWER IN HIS NAME, THAT NONE BE AFRAID; FOR I, MICHAEL, HAVE SPOKEN.

19. We are through.

While living here in the Valley, it was amazing to learn about all the people documented as having lived at some period life in parts of the Los Angeles metropolitan area who became famous 'contactees' of space people or 'channelers' of cosmic intelligences: including Orfeo Angelucci, Michael X. Barton, Truman Bethurum, Daniel Fry, Dana Howard, and Paulina Peavy.  Among these individuals, it was Truman Bethurum who once lectured at the Angelus Temple and he is the contactee to whom the 'space people' bestowed 'UFOlogy's bombshell physical proof'.

This image is from the blog article "Channeled Communication about the New Age - Ten Documented Cases".

The events chronicled in Testament include myself learning about an apparent previous physical incarnation during ancient times as 'Bel-Marduk.'  I'd learned about this ancient god/king/priest in The Wars of Gods and Men (1985), a book by Zecharia Sitchin.  In the chapter "The Prisoner in the Pyramid," Sitchin reported that clay tablets found in the ruins of the ancient Assyrian capitals Ashur and Ninevah had apparently "served as a script for a new Year's mystery play in Babylon . . ."  In the ancient script, Bel ("The Lord") is the first character introduced: ". . . Bel, who was confined in The Mountain."  Sitchin believed 'The Mountain' to signify the Great Pyramid in Egypt.  He wrote that Heinrich Zimmern transcribed and translated the Ashur text from clay tablets in the Berlin Museum and found what happened to be comparable to "an earlier Christ tale.  When Stephen Langdon included an English translation in his 1923 volume on the Mesopotamian New Year Mystery Texts, he titled the text The Death and Resurrection of Bel-Marduk and highlighted its parallels to the New Testament tale of the death and resurrection of Jesus."  Sitchin wrote:

And what of the rescued Prisoner of the pyramid?

Mesopotamian texts relate that he went into exile; in Egypt Ra acquired the epithet Amen, "The Hidden One."

Here there was an obvious parallel with the mountain logo seen at the beginning of each Paramount movie I'd helped publicize.  Similar to Bel being trapped in 'the mountain,' my work had been dedicated to serving the corporate principality of Paramount Pictures for more than seven and a half years.  One of the mysterious occurrences during my talking poltergeist research in Oklahoma had been a beetle that looked like a scarab flinging itself against my hotel door for a considerable period late one night to produce a knocking sound when I was trying to sleep.  Such knocks and raps are described in many case chronologies of transcendental communication.  I eventually was able
