Effective Ways To Save Money On Printing At Home

If you’ve ever printed anything at home, it should come as no surprise that Printer ink is extremely expensive. To a certain extent, it’s not much more money to buy a brand new printer once your ink runs out.

Unfortunately, since people are willing to pay these insane prices set by printing manufacturers for printer ink, printer manufacturer’s refuse to lower their prices.

That’s why I decided to write this article, so I can help you save money when you decide to print at home.

Below you will find a few easy ways to spend less on printer ink.

AVOID CHEAP PRINTERS LIKE THE BLACK PLAGUE!

I can’t stress this enough! When it comes to printers, you definitely get what you pay for. Believe it or not, in some cases it may be cheaper to just purchase a whole new printer rather than replace the Ink Cartridges.

More often than not, printer manufacturers do not profit off their cheap printers. Then how do they make money? If you guessed off ink cartridges, you’re correct! They greatly profit off their extremely overpriced ink cartridges.

THIRD-PARTY INK CARTRIDGES HELP YOU SAVE

Most printer brands and models have compatible cartridges which are available from third-party manufacturers. You’ll come to find that printer manufacturers will warn against the use of third-party ink cartridges instead of name brand, stating that you will most likely void your warranty. However (and that a BIG HOWEVER), no matter how you look at it, third-party ink cartridges are significantly cheaper and for the most part, they work just as good as the name brand.

SET IT TO DRAFT MODE

Another way to save money on printing is by avoiding the use of high-quality printer settings for everyday printing. Instead, use the draft mode setting which uses less ink.

Unless you like wasting money, you should only be using high-quality settings for printing photos, brochures, invitations, etc.

While printer manufacturers might be to blame for the extortionate prices of ink cartridges, it really comes down to you the consumer. Do your research and shop around before you purchase a printer. Don’t get seduced by those attractively low priced printers. Instead, invest in a higher-quality printer from the start and buy third-party ink cartridges from reputable manufacturers. Will it cost you more in the beginning? Yes, it will, but in the long run it will save you a ton of money.
