Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Version Delayed Due to Split Screen Issues

Yesterday, Larian Studios announced Baldur’s Gate III Coming to PS5 the same day as the PC version Exit Early Access. It sounded like an exclusivity deal was keeping it away from Xbox, but the developers say that’s not the case. So what is a hold? Making the split-screen action of the collaborative RPG work on the weaker Xbox Series S.

Larian has revealed the August 31 launch date for the PS5 console port in a new trailer. Sony’s latest State of Play This featured, among other things, actor JK Simmons voicing the newly emerged villain General Ketheric Thorm. It’s normal for Sony-promoted jokes to leave competitors’ platforms out, but fans were wondering when they couldn’t see the Xbox release date on Larian’s website, either.

Today, the studio explained whatNoting that an Xbox version will come if Larian has split-screen gameplay that works on both Series S and Series X:

We see many different interpretations of what this means, so we wanted to clarify more. We got the Xbox version Baldur’s Gate III has been in development for a while. While developing the Xbox port, we ran into some technical issues that made us 100% confident in announcing it until we were sure we found the right solutions; specifically, we didn’t get the split-screen co-op. working to the same standard on both Xbox Series X and S, this is a requirement for us to post.

No platform exclusivity preventing us from publishing BG3 On Xbox day and date in case there is a technical possibility. If we announce and announce other platforms, we want to make sure that each release meets our standards and expectations.

This is an especially interesting wrinkle, given that gamers have long speculated about the trade-offs and difficulties involved in developing games for PS5 and Xbox Series X with similar specs that should also accommodate the less powerful Series S. Split-screen can be a particularly taxing feature, and it was especially fell Halo Infinite last year As 343 Industries tries to save the online shooter’s live-service ambitions.

Baldur’s Gate IIIThe minimum PC specs already require at least one Nvidia GTX 970 graphics card, and the GeForce RTX 2060 is recommended. While PC gamers are unlikely to push their hardware like the blockbuster games of recent times, dead space redo or Callisto Protocol still more than your average isometric RPG fan probably has. The console port could potentially be a boon for those who don’t already have a high-end gaming PC or the money to upgrade. That said, the $250 S-Series seems to be getting in the way for now.
