So in the few days, Asus has been introducing new laptops and tablets at Computex press event, which was held in Taipei. From all of the devices, there are some interesting laptops that caught our attention here. Two of them were Asus VivoBook S15 and Asus VivoBook Pro 15. Pricing starts at $499, these 2 laptops offer a great value for heavy users out there.
In terms of hardware specs, these 2 VivoBook laptops look quite impressive on paper. And they also seem like 2 great performing laptops. Asus VivoBook S15 here is the lower-end model, with price starting at $499. Meanwhile, Asus VivoBook Pro S15 is the higher-end variant here and it's gonna cost you $799 for the base model.
However, there is one aspect that looks really prominent on these 2 devices. And that is the similarity of their design with Apple's laptop. Asus VivoBook S15 and Asus VivoBook Pro S15 really look like Apple Macbook Air.
So it's pretty clear that Asus has high hopes that it will give Apple a run for its money through these laptops. And given their low prices and powerful specs, it's very possible that could happen.
Anyway, speaking about the hardware, first of all, let us start with Asus VivoBook S15. So when launched, this laptop will be available in 3 variants with different spec configurations. The base model here will be priced at $499 but we think it's still a good performing laptop.
It features a 15.6-inch display with 1366x768 pixels resolution, a dual-core Intel Core i3-7100U processor, 500GB HDD storage and 42Wh battery.
However, you can go with the higher-end model with better spec configurations like full HD 1920x1080 pixel display, Intel Core i5/Core i7, 16GB of RAM and 1TB/2TB of HDD storage. But of course, the price will be more expensive here.
Amazingly, all of these variants will be powered Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card. So you can expect great graphical performance out of this laptop. We believe the higher-end variants of Asus VivoBook S15 will be ideal for playing PC games.
There are also fingerprint sensor and backlit keyboard equipped on this laptop, but it's only available on the higher-end models. So if you want get these 2 features, you need to dig little deeper in your pocket.
When it comes to ports, there are 1 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port and SD card reader. Unfortunately, there is no USB Type-C here. But it's probably not such a deal breaker for many people who are still used with the old-gen USB ports.
That's Asus VivoBook S15. But what about Asus VivoBook Pro 15?
Asus VivoBook Pro S15 N580VD is also available in different spec configurations. with pricing starts at $799 for the base model. But you can always upgrade some of the sectors of this laptop.
The base model features a 15.6-inch display sporting the full HD 1920x1080 pixels, but you can pick up the higher-end variant with 3840x2160 pixel display.
It goes the same with performance.
The base model here is powered by Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor, while the more pricey model will give you Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor. But we think the base model with Intel Core i5 is still a great performing laptop.
The memory of this laptop is also upgradeable for up to 16GB of RAM (2 SODIMM slots). So if you're a heavy gamer, you might want to pick the one with bigger RAM to support its performance.
There's also 500GB HDD storage provided on this laptop. But if that's not enough, you can bump it up to either 1TB or 2TB HDD.
Asus VivoBook Pro S15 is powered by 47Wh battery inside. There are also fingerprint sensor and backlit keyboard equipped on this machine. But the fingerprint sensor is optional here, as well as ASUS pen. So if you don't have enough budget, you may want to go with the base model without the fingerprint sensor.
Asus VivoBook S15 and Asus VivoBook Pro S15 will soon hit the market. So if you've been looking for a great alternative for Apple Macbook Pro or Macbook Air, these 2 ASUS laptops are definitely the ones you don't want to miss.
Asus VivoBook S15 will cost you $499 for the base model, while Asus VivoBook Pro S15 will start at $799. But if you have enough budget to spend on a laptop, you can bump up some of the sectors like display, RAM, processor, storage and more.
