‘On a Roll’ Set to Revive Inline-Skating in Gaming Form

Do you know how to rollerblade? The one time I tried doing it, I fell on my face….multiple times. I really love skating, game-wise that is. I have fond memories of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, like most gamers above the age of 10. Indeed, the skateboarding genre is filled with a lot of entries; not so much these days, but it used to be really popular. What about rollerblading/inline skating, though? Not so much.

The only game I can remember ever rollerblading in is Go Vacation, which came to the Wii back in 2011. And if you don’t know what that game is, find a copy and play it. Seriously.

Anyway, why am I going on about rollerblading in games? Well, one studio seeks to make it a thing again by creating an entire game dedicated to it. This is On a Roll, being developed by Creative Concepts:

Created by a two-man team, On a Roll seeks to turn a passion into a fluid, open-world  game. It’s going to feature just about everything you would expect from a skating game: cool tricks, an expansive open-world, character customization, and solid controls.

The game started out as a Kickstarter project all the way back in 2015. While it met its goal, the developers are still hard at work at actually finishing the game. It’s set to come out later this year with an Early Access version hitting Steam this August.

On a Roll will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
