Beam Rider Retro Complete Review
Have you ever thought why old games are good? Those games are good since games that are not good do not survive the time. My personal favorite is Star Wars game back in 1980s. Do you remember when you have to fly inside Death Star pits? That was
Do you remember when you have to fly inside Death Star pits? That was unforgettable memory of my early gaming experiences. Recently, I stumble upon a particular game that reminds me of those experiences. The game is called Beam Rider Retro.
The first time I read the name, I am not surprised that the gameplay is mostly riding spacecraft on a tunnel made out of beams. Beam Rider Retro setting takes place on atmosphere of a planet. The tunnel is located in space. When I played this game, I realized that the tunnels are in straight lines.
The tunnels are highlighted in green lines. That indicates safe areas that you can go through. Aside from green lines, I also found areas with red lines. It does not take long to understand that I must survive the tunnel as long as possible without going through the areas with red lines.
Passing the red lines few times is not a big deal, since layers of shields protect the spacecraft. Once those shields are depleted, passing red lines without protection will make the game overs. Navigating the spacecraft can be performed by quick swipe on the screen at the same direction you want to make your spacecraft moves. If you want to jump, simply swipe the screen upwards. The spacecraft features a gun. Tap on the screen to make the spacecraft shoot. How cool is that?
Playing Beam Rider Retro makes me remember the past when I saw those green lines. It reminds me of Cathode Ray Tube Screen on Oscilloscopes that featuring the same green lines. It is interesting how green lines on game are able to bring back my old memories. The game point of this game is to survive against green and blue figures on the tunnels. The one with red shield has absorbed ability, when the orange one shoots projectiles.
Throwback ideas are not always as good as this one. Fortunately, the game has appealing background music that keeps you encouraged throughout the game. If you like continuous music for dancing, their music is definitely a good one. Without the music, the game will lose its spirit.
In my opinion, the game is decent. However, since I need to talk objectively, the game also has some minor drawbacks. The game is highly recommended for those of you who want to kill time. I played it during my short train route. The difficult level of the game requires more attention. Therefore, short train route is not enough.
To put it shortly, the game will not satisfy gamer who like games that already are finished products. For some people, seeing the development on particular game from early stage is inspiring. If you come from the second type, you will appreciate this game as I did. The game does need some upgrades, particularly when it is rather premature. The game does need some upgrades, particularly when it is rather premature. The professional developers create the game within two weeks, which is considered as amazing job given the cool gameplay.
