It’s official, someone is working on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s Mac version!
This is really exciting, as Mankind Divided is the follow-up to one of the best games you can play on Mac and one of the most anticipated first-person shooters this year.
Just like its predecessor, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a shooter that can be played in many ways. The game has strong RPG elements that let you customize your character and chose how you want to roll.
You can opt for combat, stealth or hacking.
But before you get too excited here (I know I am), keep in mind that this is a leak and not an official confirmation. According to SteamDB.com, specific Linux and Mac builds have been created. This means someone is working on and testing Mankind Divided’s Mac version:
But this doesn’t guarantee that the game will be released soon (or at all). A developer is working on a Mac version, that’s a fact. Yet sometimes developers decide to shelve a port because performance is not good enough or simply because of a lack of resources.
As always, do not buy this game until the Mac version is actually available.
Secret Mac versions can be abandoned at any time (we’re still waiting for Evolve and Mad Max) but even worst, some official Mac versions can be delayed for months or even years (Rocket League being the most recent and sad example).
Is this another Feral Interactive secret project?
According to SteamDB, a working version of the game is for Feral Interactive, one of the leading Mac porting companies:
Again, this is far from confirmed, but given the good relationship between publisher Square Enix and Feral Interactive, it wouldn’t be a big surprise. Feral Interactive did port the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Life is Strange, another Square Enix game.
I hope it’s the case because Feral always delivers.
Are you Deus Ex fan? Were you expecting this one to come to the Mac? I know I didn’t!
Thanks to Boiling Steam for the heads up.
