Medal of Honor was one of the pioneers of the World War genre in video gaming that was fun and solid to play.

I first started off playing Medal of Honor Allied Assault, and then the subsequent expansions like Spearhead. I played the games when it came out on PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance. It has since lost its popularity in favor of Battlefield and Call of Duty. It's fascinating to look in history in that Medal of Honor was at the top of their game, but they couldn't progress into the future. They were stuck in the past, and the games just weren't good. Nowadays, there are way too many games, so you'll need to really stand out, and I believe the World War FPS genre is fading because there's just been too many in the past decade. The market is oversaturated and there's just too many other games out there to play.

I will admit, I'm a Call of Duty fan, over Battlefield. The controls for me are more crisp, fluid, and it's overall a better game. The last Call of Duty game I played was Modern Warfare 3, which was 7-8 years ago. So that goes to show how I stopped playing this kind of games. I played it a whole lot and I was pretty decent at the game, holding my own. It was great on the PlayStation 3, but then I simply grew tired of the format and moved off since then.

I knew Medal of Honor was out but I always avoided it because it received mediocre reviews as Call of Duty and Battlefield were always superior. Come August 2013, there was a Steam sale where this game was super cheap, and I thought, sure. I'll get this game, and play the Single Player Campaign only and see how it comes across. I can avoid the Multiplayer altogether. At the end of the day, I was glad I bought this when it was dirt cheap.

The Single Player campaign is passable. There are moments where it's a bit challenging, but the missions are relatively short and underwhelming. What surprised me the most and I didn't look at the reviews, or at the time check out websites like https://howlongtobeat.com/ (A great site to see how long games are). I beat this in about 4 hours. That is it.

I get, older games, in the 90s were short. This was a common thing where the difficulty was ramped up, but the game is short. This game was released in October 2010. There's no excuse for any Single Player campaign to be this short. That is the disappointing part here. Due to this, I never gave Medal of Honor Warfighter a chance. I don't even know how long it is, and I don't want to read up about it. My enjoyment of the Medal of Honor series is gone, and it's all a distant memory of the games I enjoyed, which is only Medal of Honor Allied Assault. That to me was one of the most fun games of that time.

It's a shame to see things like this. It's a void in the gaming world that will never be filled and you become sad and have to move on, unfortunately. It's not as big of a void as the Telltale series which is just sad, knowing the rest of the sequels aren't coming out, but that's for another day.

Medal of Honor, you were good in the beginning.
