Now that the dust has settled on yet another E3, the nominees for the Game Critics Awards have been revealed, and they’re led by Microsoft and Nintendo.
Microsoft received nine Nominations across the 16 category and is closely followed by Nintendo with eight nominations, with Bethesda taking away six. Microsoft’s standout experiences from E3 includes the team-based-brawler Bleeding Edge being nominated for Best Original Game, their AR Minecraft experience getting a nom for Best VR/AR game, and their new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 being nominated on the hardware side.
For Nintendo, Pokemon Sword and Shield got a nomination for Best RPG and Family Game, while Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Link’s Awakening received nominations for a couple of categories, including Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game. Rounding out the top three, Bethesda is led by Doom Eternal, which has picked up a trio of nominations, including one for Best of Show.
On the third party side, The Outer Worlds leads the pack with four nominations, including Best of Show and Best Original Game. The game wasn’t playable at E3 2019 but was available for certain press prior to the show. There were a number of games that received three nominations, including Borderlands 3, Control, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, John Wick Hex, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Watch Dogs: Legion and Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
Platform-wise, PC received the most nominations with 54, followed by Microsoft with 45 and PS4 with 43 nominations. The full list of nominees is featured below and the winners will be announced in the coming days.
