Kadokawa’s Comic Walker website announced Friday that a Manga adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was in the words.
The manga titled Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei will follow the life of Hanbei the Undying, an NPC who appeared in FromSoftware’s latest RPG. When he first appeared in Shadows Die Twice, Hanbei was an NPC that let you slash and dice him up to your heart’s content. Since he was literally incapable of being killed, Hanbei was the perfect training partner.
The manga will focus on Hanbei’s life and backstory, and will most likely fill in some of the history in the Sekiro universe. The manga will be a swift departure from FromSoftware’s usual gameplay-heavy and narrative-light approach to storytelling, and will undoubtedly be far less of a challenge to get through than the original Sekiro game.
Considering the source material, the manga is going to be very bloody.
Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei is being drawn by artist Shin Yamamoto under the supervision of FromSoftware and will be released on May 27th on the Comic Walker website.
