Counter-Strike: GO Releases A New Map Named ‘Canals’

CS:GO’s brand new map “Canals” drops players into a historic Italian city where two important tourist locations are under attack. You’ll play either the Phoenix, a group of international terrorist holding the locations hostage or be deployed as a member of the SEAL Team 6 to stop them.

The CT side has a large wide open area while the T-controlled territory is filled with tight spaces that allows for many different routes to each bomb site. Site A is located in CT territory where the use of smoke grenades and a good rifle aim are key, while site B is set in an enclosed area where sub-machine guns and shotguns rule. True to the map’s name, a stealthy canal runs below site B into CT controlled area which leads to site A. Since the canal provides a lot of cover, it will be hard for CTs to take control of it and the opposing team can use this route to their advantage.

According to Valve, the map is ‘based on real-world environments that give each area its own architectural style as well as gameplay, and produce an unconventional layout. The aesthetics are intentionally clean and uncluttered for good player visibility. In addition, many of the environmental models are built in a modular fashion so they can be easily re-used by community map makers.

Additionally, there will be a visual upgrade to the Phoenix Terrorist player model and a new Spectrum case featuring 17 community designed weapon finishes and a rare second generation set of knives in Chroma finishes.
