How are the scores calculated and what does it mean?

The score opens with ‘Erotic Theme’, an almost 60s/70s sounding romantic piece of Music with a woman humming over it. It is very Italian, very beautiful. The opening credits ‘Trasparente’ is also using strong female vocals in a more jazz inspired way. It’s another lovely theme, very laid back, very non-threatening. I’m enjoying this very much. ‘Preludio’ continues the trend, although no vocals this time. It is getting creepy real fast though. ‘Clavicembalo 70’ is quite scary, the way the voice is present but different, darker, whispering. The dark cello and a mysterious thriller underscore cements the feeling of terror. I love the fact that even though the whole Mood of the score changes, the music is still excellent.

This appears to be a very vocal score and I firmly believe the voice is the main instrument here for the first few cues. The voice goes from love to terror in such a brilliant and mischievous way. Furthermore the score has a dreamy or should I say nightmare-ish quality to the music. It can be soft, sweet and terrifying. It’s never harsh though, the music is smooth and rounded for the most part, but the moods play a huge part. I am smitten. The music might not present me with the best themes, but the moods it shows and doesn’t show is my key interest here. The mere changing of the moods, how it all works together. I would call this a relaxing score even with the scarier parts. It has the perfect blend of drama and jazz to make any afternoon seems like a phenomenal time. This is one for the nights as well, whether you are in the city or in the outskirts. It’s not a homage to the 70s Italian cinema, at least not musically, but there are are bits and pieces here and there that will take you there. The highlights for me though will be the various moods, particularly the jazz.
