These rumours have gone on and off for years now, with only one turning out to be true, SPIDER-MAN. Sony had the film franchise but after numerous faults, they finally cut a deal with Marvel Studios on delivering a joint film. Now, the same is rumoured for X-MEN, well, sort of.
X-MEN has been up and down over the years and after X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, I think it’s due another fresh start, similar to what they did with FIRST CLASS. FOX’s latest series LEGION has now brought back those rumours of the X-MEN joining Marvel. Marvel linked the series with their other TV properties on their official site, sparking theories talks where going on that the X-MEN are coming back.
Right now, many are in the thoughts that we’ll be seeing the characters pop up in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but Joe Russo, who’s directing the film with brother Anthony Russo, has the true details it seems.
“As far as we know, right now there isn’t talk regarding the X-Men,” Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo tells ComicBook.com. “I don’t know if behind-the-scenes there were conversations or if there are conversations happening but we certainly haven’t heard of any.”
Now, we can probably guarantee the Russo’s are all at the front for what’s going on at Marvel. I doubt they wouldn’t be getting told some info if the X-MEN are coming or not, just so they can plan the next AVENGERS film round that.
SPIDER-MAN is doing seriously well already at Marvel after CIVIL WAR, but X-MEN have been doing moderately alright the past few years at 20th Century Fox. Me personally, I don’t want to see all these films merge and fall under Marvel because they’ve only upped their production to three films a year. Yeah, sure I’d be up for a joint union between Fox and Marvel, with Fox doing the actual film to take strain from Marvel, but it’s then more characters and more to weave into the already massive story.
