Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was my thing back in the 90’s. I was one of those kids it was definitely aimed at, explosions, monsters, zords and all out craziness. We got a POWER RANGERS movie back in the 90’s, which was related to the TV series at the time, along with another film linking in the third version of the Rangers, but since then all we’ve seen is a string of TV shows still deriving from the Japanese Super Sentai version.
I’ve watched now and again the newer versions and I just think, it hasn’t quite got that Ranger spirit anymore, but I’m hoping the new film, which goes back to the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from 1993, will manage to bring some of that flare back.
Elizabeth Banks will be starring as the big bad villain, Rita Repulsa, but we’ll be seeing her not quite as terrifying as the 90’s version, and instead slicked in green evil. The latest image from the film sees Rita staring through some crystallised glass, but this could be any number of things. Is she maybe staring through to see Bryan Cranston’s Zordon?
POWER RANGERS is scheduled for a March 24, 2017.
