Mads Mikkelsen Lets Slip Details On His STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Character

Mads Mikkelsen is going to have an incredibly successful 2016. While we will first see him playing a currently unknown scaly-eyed villain in Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE, the former HANNIBAL Star is also set to star in STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE. While little is known about the character Mikkelsen will play, it appears the actor has let slip some very important details about his character.

During an on-air interview with Sky News, Mikkelson let slip that he is playing Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father. This is an incredibly interesting reveal given the importance of parent-child relationship within the STAR WARS franchise, especially will the internet running rampant with rumors of Rey’s lineage.

It is unknown how important Mikkelson’s role will be in the film, given that he was not seen at all in the teaser trailer released last month. In the full quote, Mikkelson even acknowledged he should not have revealed that information.

“Felicity Jones is playing this lovely young strong woman. I play her father, and… that’s too much. I’m sorry.”

In truth, this reveal only means we know less about the character then ever. Judging from the trailer, Jones’ character is not exactly respective of authority, which raises some interesting questions regarding her family. Mikkelson’s reveal along with the footage from the trailer could hint at a much darker and different STAR WARS story then we have ever seen before.

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE opens in theaters on 16th December. Expect more news for the film in the coming weeks from Disney’s Star Wars Day event.
