During a Friday appearance on Today, Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon opened up about her three kids: daughter Ava, 17, and sons Deacon, nearly 13, and Tennessee, 4.
“I have two teenagers, and I’ve discovered that they will Snapchat me back, but they will not call me back,” said the Wild actress, 40, of her social media communication. “And I think it’s important for people to communicate well with their children.”
And she’s sure to call on her daughter for fashion advice.
“I usually ask my daughter, my 17-year-old daughter, ‘Does this look good?’ and she’ll be honest with me. She’ll be like, ‘No. You do not look good. You cannot wear that.’ So I depend on her brutal honesty,” Witherspoon explained.
The mom-of-three also says her kids make fun of her southern vocabulary.
“My kids do this whole thing where they make fun of me because I’ll say, ‘He did do, but he didn’t done do. He done did that,’ ” Witherspoon, who was born in New Orleans and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, said.
She added: “They’ll be like, ‘What? Why are you [saying] ‘did done?’ My little 4-year-old will be like, ‘He did done do!’ They think it’s hysterical. They don’t understand what I’m saying. ‘You can’t do … if you’re trying to do, you can’t done.’ I always know what I’m saying, [and] sometimes [other] people do.”
