Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert: Our Son's Sudden Birth Was TERRIFYING

Earlier this week, Jade Roper welcomed baby #2 with Tanner Tolbert ... in an accidental home birth that no one expected.

Fortunately, mother and newborn son are doing just fine.

The pair of them are now opening up about how the lightning fast labor took them by surprise and how it all went down.

"I was just sitting on the couch," Jade Roper tells Entertainment Tonight. "I've been having labor pains for weeks so I didn't think anything of it,"

"Then I felt this pop," she describes. "And my water broke."

"So we called my midwife," Jade continues. "We were timing my contractions."

"They were six minutes apart," she reveals. "So I knew it was going to be quick..."

Tanner then interjects: "But not this quick!"

"The midwife was, like, watch the time, just don't have the baby in the car." Jade recounts. "She was, like, joking around."

"I got in the bath just to relax," she explains. "And we were going to go to the hospital."

Relaxation is important, but perhaps she should have skipped that step. Or perhaps it was already too late.

"And all of a sudden it was just like, the labor contractions just sped up and got so intense," Jade shares.

"I remember walking by the mirror and looking at my face and just the change of my body, the way it looked," she describes. "I was like, this is serious."

"The moment I realized that we weren't going to make it to the hospital, I was, like, screaming," Jade confesses.

"It took my pain to a whole other level," she explains. "Because it became fear."

That is very understandable.

People give birth in hospitals for more than just that (very good) epidural. So much can go wrong; you want doctors on hand.

Jade continues: "He's like, 'We need to get you down the stairs,' and I was like, 'This is not contractions anymore. I need to push. He's coming,'"

Jade cannot emphasie enough how quickly her childbirth process was.

"30, 40 minutes after the water broke," she shares. "Insanely fast."

"We were all in the closet, I'm, like, hunched over clenching this bench," Jade describes.

At the same time, she shares: "Tanner's calling 911 and they got there in six minutes."

"They got there so fast," Jade marvels. "And then two minutes after they got there, he came out."

Following the birth, they did of course go to the hospital to get the newborn checked out and weighed.

Then, hours later, they returned home.

She very clearly did not have trouble bonding with the baby.

"I feel like he's just always been a part of our family," Jade expresses. "It makes so much sense,"

"The love really does just expand," she characterizes.

Emme, their daughter, is almost two years old.

"She's been great," Tanner praises. "She's given him little kisses and been real gentle."

"I'm not sure she understands that we're keeping this baby," he admits.

"Like," Tanner explains. "He's gonna be here every day for the rest of her life."

"But," he continues. "She's been great with him so far."

So what fate befell the walk-in closet where Jade squeezed a tiny human being into the world?

"It's actually in really good shape," Tanner reveals.

"My mom stayed home and cleaned up a little bit," he shares. "But it was surprisingly clean in there."

"I was worried for my shoes because Jade decided to give birth on my side of the closet," Tanner says. "Because she didn't want to mess up her own things."

"But the closet's in good shape," he notes.

"Yeah, somehow a whole white closet is intact," Jade chimes in. "I don't know how."

The couple has yet to name Baby #2, but have joked about a Bachelor-related name -- perhaps even "Harrison."
