Chris Soules Bought Busch Light on Night of Crash, Source Confirms

We have an update on the Chris Soules arrest.

And it doesn't bode particularly well for the ex-Bachelor star.

According to multiple sources, Soules purchased alcohol on Sunday night, April 23, just over an hour before his pickup truck slammed into the back of a tractor on a road in Iowa.

As you likely know by now, considering how hot of a topic this incident has become online, the 68-year old driver of said tractor was throw into a ditch and killed.

Soules remained at the scene at first, even dialing 911 and identifying himself to the dispatcher.

But he then got into a relative's vehicle and went home.

A short time later, after Soules prohibited authorities from entering his house until they obtained a search warrant, Soules was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal car crash.

In legal documents filed on Monday, meanwhile, prosecutors responded to Soules’ request to dismiss this felony charge.

These papers reject the notion (espoused by Chris' lawyers) that the former reality star acted in a responsible manner by calling 911 and sticking around until EMTs arrived.

Prosecutors argue that Soules did try to evade numerous issues surrounding the accident, including "an explanation of the empty and partially consumed open alcoholic beverages located in and around his vehicle that he was seen purchasing at a convenience store shortly before the accident."

An insider gets even more specific when speaking to E! News.

This individual says Soules bought a 12-pack of Busch Light from Casey's General Store in Strawberry Point, Iowa around 7 p.m.

The accident took place around 8:20 p.m.

(For the record, Soules was not arrested until 1 a.m. the next morning because police had to get a search warrant before they could enter his home, as mentioned above.)

Cops are reportedly aware that Soules bought this cheap beer, but they still must figure out whether he was drunk at the time of the accident or not.

If this cannot be proven, it appears unlikely Soules will spend any time in jail.

Due to his criminal record, however, along with the general fact that the presence of alcohol adds a whole new layer into any accident, Soules could face a charge of vehicular manslaughter if it's determined he had beer in his system.

It's unclear at this time whether there's surveillance video of Soules purchasing the beer or if witnesses have come forward to attest to this development.

But the mere purchase is not illegal, of course.

Nor is the presence of Busch Light cans in Soules' truck.

"People have beer in the back of pickup trucks all the time. This could have happened to anyone," someone told E! News as part of its investigation.

The Buchanan County Attorney says that Soules fleeing the scene made it impossible for officers to determine his "level of intoxication."

This, many believe, would explain why Soules was so anxious to get home after doing all he could in the vicinity of the crash.

Chris Soules 911 Call

The victim, Kenneth Mosher, was laid to rest on Monday.

“My family and I are overwhelmed with this tragedy, but we are sticking together and we’ll get through it,” Soules told In Touch Weekly last week, shortly after posting $10,000 bond.

Because he made the 911 call above and took Mosher's pulse before authorities arrived, his legal team said in a statement they "are confident that once all the evidence is made public, it will show Soules acted reasonably and did everything in his power to provide aid to Mr. Mosher."

That may be true. But Soules still could have broken the law.

We'll keep you updated on this tragic story as more and more news breaks.
