Influence: Chuck Creekmur Helps Make History With Ted Talk At Del State University

(Allhiphop)
Chuck Creekmur, the CEO of AllHipHop.com, helped make history during Black History month at Delaware State University.

Delaware State University, located in Dover, DE, became the first historically African American institute of higher education to host a TED Talk.

Other speakers at the university included DSU President Dr. Harry Williams, The Charity Company’s Eric Smith, Dr. Francine Edwards, DSU Jordan Gonzalez and others. Wilmington University’s Dan Young organized the entire affair that attracted about 200 attendees on February 11 under the theme of “On the Wings of Diverse Thought.”

The Dover Ted Talk offered a variety of topics dealing with social media, the power of the Black dollar, over-prized text books, happiness and a plethora of other issues. Creekmur, the last speaker of the event, spoke about “Why Planning Is Overrated.” The conversation included his personal account of AllHipHop’s origins, how things didn’t go as expected and included references to Mike Tyson, Jay Z, The Geto Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins as well as scientific, social and opinionated views on planning.

Shortly after the talk, Creekmur, often called “Jigsaw,” said:

“Last week, I delivered my first @Ted Talk at #delawarestateuniversity, a historic moment since it’s a first for an #HBCU. I really appreciate the opportunity and enjoyed talking to the audience. As soon as the video is finished, I’ll share it.”
