Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 8

An oddly united merged tribe joined together to get rid of Elizabeth in Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 7.

Angelina has damage control to do after what she privately admits was indeed jury management. Nobody believes her that she wasn’t trying to get Elizabeth’s vote by warning her that she was the target.

There’s supposed to be an alliance of six, but Mike is concerned about the very emotional Gabby not really being with him.

Davie and Nick go idol hunting, and Davie finds what they think is a clue. On the way back, they are joined by Carl. For whatever reason, they say come join the search, and Davie lets Nick go find the advantage, the ability to steal a vote.

For the reward challenge, they will be divided into two teams of six and hold sandbags above their heads. Reward is pizza. Gabby selects Christian, Alison, John, Alec, and Nick. Mike selects Carl, Kara, Davie, Dan, and Angelina. Every 15 minutes, one person must drop out from each team and pass their bags to someone else. Gabby leaves her team behind, and Angelina also drops out. Christian and Carl are next. Dan’s being a cocky idiot and fumbles one of his bags, handing the win to the other team. This wasn’t even about someone not being able to handle it anymore. It was someone flaunting that he could do it one handed.

They ignored Angelina last week when she said that Christian is a threat. Now it’s Mike’s turn to bring up his name. Angelina pretends they are listening to him because he’s a man. No, they are listening to him because he’s talking with them, not at them.

For the immunity challenge, they will hold a buoy with two poles. Kara falls quickly. Christian, Alison, Davie, John, Gabby, and Carl are right behind. Alec is next. Then Mike. And Nick. None of these people lasted long at all, and then there were two. Angelina drops. Dan wins immunity.

Angelina’s going to have to trust people who she knows have no reason to trust her. If Christian isn’t the one going home, the next most likely is Angelina.

The other wrinkle in the plan is that Alec doesn’t want to blindside Nick, so he reveals the plan to him. Nick in turn warns Christian. He doesn’t outright say who the target is, but he does tell him they are lying to him.

Then Nick goes to Davie and asks about using the advantage to save Christian.

Nick doesn’t use his advantage. However, Davie plays his idol for Christian. The perfect plan and the right target, blown up because they trusted someone who already proved untrustworthy during the first vote after the swap. Angelina asks Dan to play his idol as well. Then she begs. He agrees. So who’s going home?

With 2 votes, John has been voted off the island. The people who shouldn’t have had the numbers split the votes and still get their way. This was not a useful use of Dan’s idol. He’d have been better off with John than Angelina. That was the problem with playing the idol. Unlike the other side, they didn’t create a contingency plan.
