Thursday TV: The Good Place S.2 Finale, Mom, Life in Pieces & More

Tonight, CBS has an MVP: Most Valuable Performer special and NBC has the second season finale of The Good Place and the series premiere of A.P. Bio.

Over on cable, ESPN has the documentary premiere of 30 for 30: The Two Bills and truTV has the seventh season premiere of Impractical Jokers and the second season premiere of Talk Show the Game Show.

Prime Picks

The Big Bang Theory (CBS): New. Wil Wheaton invites Amy instead of Sheldon to be a guest on the new Prof. Proton show. Runs 31 minutes.
The Good Place (NBC): Season Finale. Michael tries to fix everything. Starts at the half hour and runs 30 minutes.

Mom (CBS): New. On the 100th episode, Bonnie won’t let Adam loan Christie money to replace her broken down car. Starts a minute after the hour and runs 29 minutes.
Life in Pieces (CBS): New. Greg makes something up to get out of attending a party at his crazy neighbor’s place. Colleen and Matt realize they need to make some cuts.

S.W.A.T. (CBS): New. The team works with the FBI to track a militia group that may be planning a domestic terror attack.

Solid Selections

Beyond (Freeform): New. “Knock, Knock.” Runs 61 minutes.

Arrow (The CW): New. Oliver is still fighting with Cayden James. Dinah and Oliver have a big disagreement.

The Chi (Showtime): Repeat. This past Sunday night’s episode, “Quaking Grass,” replays. Plays again later.

Other Options

  • A.P. Bio (NBC): Series Premiere. A former Harvard philosophy professor becomes a biology teacher at a high school and has no intention actually teaching his students. Runs 29 minutes. Watched the first two episodes and didn’t care for it at all. Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Patton Oswalt (Happy!, The Goldbergs) are wasted in this unfunny sitcom.
  • Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): New. Bailey has just about had it with everything.
  • Nashville (CMT): New. Deacon and Jessie get closer. Avery, Gunnar and Will are looking for a female voice to add to the band. Runs 62 minutes. Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • CBS Sports has tripleheader college basketball action tonight with Fairleigh Dickinson at St. Francis Pennsylvania, SMU at Tulsa and Western Kentucky at UTEP.
  • ESPN has women’s college basketball action tonight with UConn at South Carolina.
  • ESPN2 has college basketball action tonight with Wichita State at Temple.
  • ESPNU has tripleheader college basketball action tonight with Gardner-Webb at Radford, LIU Brooklyn at Sacred Heart and San Francisco at St. Mary’s California.
  • FS1 has tripleheader college basketball action tonight with Creighton at Villanova, Northwestern at Wisconsin and Oregon State at Stanford.
  • TNT has doubleheader NBA action tonight with the Houston Rockets at the San Antonio Spurs followed by another game.
