Netflix nearly made Stranger Things season 2 take out bad language

After being told that Stranger Things season 2 couldn’t contain any more profanity, Netflix quickly changed their minds having seen the first two episodes.

Matt and Ross Duffer were, at first keen on removing all Bad Language from Stranger Things season 2 especially after Netflix had told them to do so, but after a negative response from the cast, they had to change their minds. Read what Matt Duffer said below:

“First, we actually gave in and took out all of the bad language, and the kids got really upset.”

After the backlash from the kids, the Brothers decided that they would write to Netflix and explain the problem, and stated that it was because of the kids that profanity was allowed back into the show. Read what Matt wrote to Netflix below:

I wrote Netflix saying I’ve got this army of 11- and 12-year-olds and they’re pissed off that we cut all the language. At least let us shoot alternate takes. That was, like, the day before we started shooting. And then Netflix said OK.

Like everyone, you love the soundtrack, right? Well it’s going really cheap on Amazon, why don’t you treat yourself and get it here.

With Netflix seeing the first two episodes, they immediately allowed profanity to be used again. They also teased that we could see swearing used by Eleven in season 2.  They also said that our favorite characters will be ‘much more foulmouthed’ in season 2.

“They’re much more foulmouthed in Season 2 than in Season 1, but in real life it’s far worse. I’m like, I cannot believe that came out of your mouth,”

Stranger Things released October 27th on Netflix with all episodes being able to stream at once.
