Warner Bros hopes to expand “The Matrix” universe just like what Disney is doing with “Star Wars,” and begin making movies focused on elements that were on the fringes of the original franchise, according to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.
The success of the ‘Star Wars’ Reboot with Disney has definitely been a pushing factor for Warner Bros to even think of a reboot for the world-famous movie franchise. The studio has had no official comments on the matter so far.
On Twitter there is a huge variation of opinions, with some people ecstatic and others calling it a ‘disaster’. We can see why there would be talk of a reboot, with the franchise earning over $1 billion worldwide at the box office in the late 1990s.
As if to make matters worse for fans, reportedly the original creators, Lilly and Lana Wachowski will not be involved in any remake. Action movie legend and protagonist ‘Neo’ in the previous films, Keanu Reeves, is unlikely to take part too, with ‘Creed’ star Michael B. Jordan likely to have the lead role.
Popular superhero screenwriter Zak Penn is the most likely person to write the film. So far in his career Penn has wrote: The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Inspector Gadget, X-Men: The Last Stand and X2 .
The Matrix reboot could be killed pre-production and suffer the same fate as the talk of a Matrix TV series was.
What is your opinion on the reboot nobody asked for? fantastic or a disaster? Leave a comment below!
