Adam Levine's baby battle

Tags: adam parent dada

Adam Levine is "battling" with Behati Prinsloo to get their daughter to say 'dada' first.

The Maroon 5 frontman is desperate for his five-month-old daughter Dusty Rose to utter his name first that he's trying every tactic to come out on top.

Speaking during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he said: "I've been working 'dada' hard. You do slip it into every single thing you say. Like if she's being cute, you're like, 'Oh, my God. Look how cute you are. Dada.'

"We've gotten some 'dada'-esque sounds, but nothing concrete. But I'm working super hard on it. And my wife is working 'mama,' so it's a battle to the finish, but we'll see."

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old singer previously admitted he is finding parenting a "beautiful experience".

He said: "I've been a parent for three weeks; what do I know? I don't know anything, but it's kind of part of the beauty of it, honestly. There are a lot of instincts, a lot of things that kind of kick in and switch on. It's a beautiful experience."

And Adam and Behati want to parent on their own instinct and not pay too much attention to the advice they have been offered.

He shared: "When you are doing this for the first time, everybody loves to tell you what you should be doing. So, we're kind of tuning a lot of it out and we're just going to do it how we do it."

Before his little girl was welcomed into the world, Adam admitted he was "ready" to be a parent.

He said: "I'm ready to be a dad. You're born to be a parent, that's what we're here for, really. All the other s**t is great, but it's not what we're here for."
