Plot

The movie begins with the most stupid or smart institution on earth called wedding (user’s define) as framed by the lady Sugandha Joshi played by Bhumi Pednekar. She is getting engaged to Mudit Sharma played by Ayushmann Khurrana. The movie then goes back to flashback telling their sweet little story themselves. Both have gone for a arrange-cum-love-cum-arrange marriage. This is when we see Mudit tries to explain his wife about his genital issues. Rest of the movie is seen tackling this issue with gut busting movments, while how the lady reacts is interesting to catch on this situation.

Review

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a family drama dealing with the issue of Erectile Dysfunction, which was perhaps difficult to make some years before. Though the filmmaker has dared to pose this issue in a commercial mainstream media, but in terms of content, the film has not much to offer. However, one can only claim that the movie will create some amount of awareness about the medial ailment called Erectile Dysfunction, which anyone would dare to ask before the arranged marriages work out. Talking about performances, Ayushmann Khurrana unlike his previous movies has lived each of his character. Bhumi Pednekar too seems to have spread her magic in the film and has simply nailed with her accent and she looks as sweet as her accent in the film. The other elements like direction, music and editing seemed okay adding up the entertainment value of the movie.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan – The Last Word

Though the film deals with adult content but make sure you do not end up calling it a sex comedy. It is a comedy cum serious kind of film, which deals with an issue which everyone knows but only few people talk. It may appear to be a sign of progress in B Town films but how much content worthy the film is only time will tell.
