Given how poor Terminator films have been in the last few years, news of another coming our way may not inspire confidence. However, throw in creator James Cameron as overseeing the film with DEADPOOL’s Tim Miller potentially directing, then things look a little rosier.
The rights of the TERMINATOR franchise revert back to Cameron in 2019, despite the release of TERMINATOR GENISYS in 2015. Although Cameron’s focus is on AVATAR at the moment with AVATAR 2 arriving in 2018 (not to mention 3 in 2020, 4 in 2022 and 5 in 2023), his inclusion on this new film can only do some good for the franchise which is need of a rebuild. Cameron, of course, brought us THE TERMINATOR back in 1984 and the directed the sequel, JUDGEMENT DAY, in 1991.
This isn’t in place just yet, so this could fall apart but should all parties not come to agreement.
