The first look at Benedict Cumberbatch in electrical drama THE Current War has sparked.
Cumberbatch plays Thomas Edison who has a clash with George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) over the future of electricity in the 1880s with inventor Nikola Telsa (Nicholas Hoult) caught in the middle. Katherine Waterston is also starring, as Marguerite Westinghouse and Tom Holland is Samuel Insull, Edison’s right hand man.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is directing here with Michael Mitnik having written the script. There’s no release date for the film just yet but it does face competition from a rivalling project, THE LAST DAYS OF NIGHT, that has Eddie Redmayne set to play lawyer Paul Cravath, though that is further away from shooting just yet.
