Kay Cannon is set to make her directorial debut, after working on the Pitch Perfect Films, with THE PACT. Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz are the first to sign on for the film.
The film centres around three parents who learn that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginities on prom night. There’s no details on what roles Mann, Cena and Barinholtz have received just yet, but it’s likely not a great stretch to assume that two, if not all three, will be playing the parents. Certainly in the case of Mann and Cena who could promise to have good chemistry in those roles.
The project has been through many hands with Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, Brian and Jim Kehoe and Eben Russell all taking a look at it. It’s safe to assume that Cannon has also tinkered with the script given her writing duties on the PITCH PERFECT films.
Mann can next be seen opposite Robert De Niro in THE COMEDIAN, Cena is taking a serious turn for Doug Liman in THE WALL whilst Barinholtz is re-teaming with SUICIDE SQUAD director David Ayer for BRIGHT. There’s no date for the THE PACT, but Cannon may be able to turn this one in sometime next year, after PITCH PERFECT 3.
