Netflix 2021 Golden Globe and SAG Award nominee billboards...

Today it's also time for the annual Golden Globes Awards. It's usually described as Hollywood's biggest party, but the ongoing pandemic scuppered those plans and the revelation that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has had no black members for twenty years slightly mars the proceedings (and let's say nothing of the lavish Emily in Paris set visit scandal that may have led to the show's two surprise nominations).
With that all being said let's not take away from Netflix's accomplishment this year by leading the pack with 42 Golden Globe nods for its shows and movies this year, plus 30 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations and a staggering 72 Critics' Choice Awards nominations.
Spike Lee's latest film, Da 5 Bloods, about a group of Vietnam veterans who return to the country to recover their fallen squad leader's remains and a hidden treasure was overlooked by the HFPA, but did garner three SAG Award nominations (including for stunt and cast ensembles and for Supporting Actor for Chadwick Boseman) and six Critics's Choice nods.
The Netflix movie also showcased the talents of Delroy Lindo, Norm Lewis, Clark Paters, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Jonathan Majors.
These Nominee Billboards for Da 5 Bloods were snapped along the Sunset Strip, 3rd Street, Santa Monica Boulevard and Cahuenga Boulevard from February 18 to 19, 2021.
Chadwick Boseman also received posthumous accolades for his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
Both he and Viola Davis received Golden Globe nominations for the biographical drama about the legendary Blues singer and her control over her music and an ambitious, talented trumpet player, based on August Wilson's 1982 play of the same name.
The movie also scored three SAG Award nomination, including nods for the lead actors, plus for the ensemble which also featured Colman Domingo, Jonny Coyne, Michale Potts and Glynn Turman.
These nominee billboards for the film directed by George C. Wolfe were photographed along Melrose Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard and the Sunset Strip from February 18 to 19, 2021.
Another Netflix film receiving acclaim this awards season is Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7.
The movie tells the true story of the people on trial following peaceful protests that turned violent at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, exploring timely themes of racism, police brutality and democracy.
Five Golden Globe nominations include nods for Best Picture - Drama, Best Director and Screenplay for Aaron Sorkin, Best Supporting Actor for Sacha Baron Cohen (who's also nominated for his Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) and Best Original Song for "Hear My Voice" by Daniel Pemberton and Celeste.
The film is also up for three SAG Awards, including Supporting Actor for Sacha Baron Cohen and nods for stunt and cast ensembles.
The Trial of the Chicago is also nominated for six Critics' Choice Awards and more industry accolades.
These nominee billboards for the film were photographed along the Sunset Strip, Cahuenga Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard and Olympic Boulevard from February 18 to 19, 2021.
Another movie that's the critical darling of the industry awards scene this year is the black-and-white film, Mank.
Gary Oldman is nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG Award for his portrayal of alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay for Citizen Kane.
The movie which explores 1930s Hollywood also stars the Golden Globe nominated Amanda Seyfried as starlet Marion Davis.
The film's other Golden Globes nods include Best Director for David Fincher, a posthumous Best Screenplay nod for his father Jack Fincher, Best Original Score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and Best Picture - Drama.
Additionally this ode to old Hollywood has also garnered twelve Critics' Choice Awards nominations which include Best Picture.
These abundant nominee ad creatives for Mank were captured along the Sunset Strip, Ventura Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue, Vine Street, Santa Monica Boulevard and Pico Boulevard from February 18 to 19, 2021.
Meanwhile after being nominated for an Emmy in The Crown, Vanessa Kirby is up for a Golden Globe, SAG Award and Critics' Choice Award this season.
In Pieces of a Woman she plays a young mother named 'Martha' whose home birth ends in tragedy.
The film adapted from Kata Wéber's 2018 stage play of the same name follows her year-long journey after the death of her first child and also stars Ellen Burstyn as her overbearing mother.
These nominee billboards for Pieces of a Woman were spotted along La Brea Avenue, 3rd Street and the Sunset Strip from February 18 to 19, 2021.
This year Netflix's The Life Ahead movie scored two Golden Globe nominations, including for Best Foreign Language Picture and Best Original Song for "Io Sì" by Diane Warren, Niccolò Agliardi and Laura Pausini.
The film directed by Edoardo Ponti stars screen legend Sophia Loren as an Italian Holocaust survivor in a seaside town who forms a connection with a young street kid who recently robbed her.
This nominee billboard for the film was spotted above L.A.'s Westwood Boulevard on February 18, 2021.
Meanwhile to everyone's surprise Ryan Murphy's feature adaptation of The Prom musical scored two Golden Globe nominations, including for Best Picture - Musical and Best Actor for James Corden (many thought his casting and portrayal as a stereotypically camp gay actor was insulting).
This nominee billboard for the film about a high school teenage girl who just wants to take her girlfriend to prom was spied above the Sunset Strip on February 18, 2021.
In the world of animation the streaming giant was also getting recognition for the feature film, Over the Moon.
The Golden Globe-nominated animated musical directed by Glen Keane and John Khars follows the adventures of a girl and her bunny who builds a rocket to fly to the Moon with the hopes of meeting a mythical goddess.
The movie's voice talents include Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo, Ken Jeong, Ruthie Ann Miles, Margaret Cho, Sandra Oh, John Chu, Kimiko Glenn and Robert G. Chiu.
These animation nominee billboards were sighted along the Sunset Strip, Pico Boulevard, Westwood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard on February 18, 2021.
On the television side, alongside being a hit with audiences during the pandemic lockdown, The Queen's Gambit limited series is also adored by critics.

The series and its star Anya Taylor-Joy are nominated for a Golden Globe, plus the actress is a SAG Awards nominee (alongside Bill Camp) for the story about a young chess prodigy with addiction problems, based on Walter Tevis' 1983 novel.
These nominee billboards for the addictive mini-series were spied along Olympic Boulevard and the Sunset Strip on February 18, 2021.
Another Netflix drama receiving high praise again this season was The Crown, back for a fourth season of British Royal Family intrigue and secrets as Emma Corrin joined the cast as Princess Diana and Gillian Anderson as Tory Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The series is the recipient of the Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama, plus Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, Josh O'Connor, Gillian Anderson and Emma Corrin are all recognized for their acting.
The season is also nominated for five SAG Awards, including Outstanding Ensemble, and these nominee billboards were snapped above the Sunset Strip and 3rd Street on February 18, 2021.
The streamer's gritty money-laundering drama Ozark was also garnering multiple awards accolades for its third season.

The series, Laura Linney, Jason Bateman and Julia Garner were all nominated for Golden Globes and SAG Awards (including Outstanding Ensemble).
These nominee billboards for Ozark were captured along the Sunset Strip and Beverly Boulevard from February 18 to 19, 2021.
The second season of Netflix's dark comedy, Dead to Me, also received three SAG Award nominations this year, including for co-stars and body-hiding buddies, Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate.
These nominee billboards for the sophomore season were spotted along the Sunset Strip and Robertson Boulevard on February 18, 2021.
And finally for this collection of Netflix nominees, the sexy and scandalous Regency-era drama Bridgerton was also being recognised with two Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, for Regé-Jean Page and the ensemble cast.

These nominee billboards for the high society series based on Julia Quinn's novels were spied along Melrose Avenue and the Sunset Strip on February 18, 2021.
This February we started the month with Netflix awards consideration billboards and today we'll end with the streaming giant too and all their nominees celebrating in the L.A. city skyline.

Let's see how many trophies the streamer can bring home this year.

We'll leave you now with this lamppost ad for this year's Golden Globes hosted again by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
