Actress Amy Smart has decided to put her acting career on the back burner for now and focus her attention on motherhood. Smart revealed that she has taken on a new role, being a full-time mama to her 22-month old daughter Flora. The actress confesses she doesn’t want to miss a minute of her little girl’s childhood.
The 42-year-old Just Friends star revealed at a clothing line launch party on Wednesday, November 7 that she is thankful for the opportunity to be a full-time mama, a decision that she jumped at. “I feel so grateful to be a full-time mom, that’s what I’ve chosen. “I know time goes by really fast. She’s almost two.”

Smart shares her daughter with hubby Carter Oosterhouse from Trading Spaces. The couple tied the knot in 2011 and welcomed their first child in December 2016 via surrogate.
Smart opened up to PEOPLE in October about her fertility struggles that went on for years before the couple decided to have a surrogate carry their child.
“When we got married, I didn’t know if we were going to get pregnant right away. That didn’t happen. Years went by and we were just on this roller coaster. Nothing was working. We started to wonder if we were ever going to be parents,” Smart admitted.
The family of three is the happiest when they are enjoying the great outdoors. “We love to go on hikes, we love to walk on the beach. We’re in the garden. We’re outside.”
Smart and Oosterhouse, 42, are raising their little gal in Los Angeles but spend the summers in Traverse City, Michigan at their 100-year-old farmhouse that they own, their little oasis away from their busy city life back in California.

But don’t count Smart out of the workforce altogether. She may be focusing all of her attention on her daughter for now but she and Oosterhouse are creating an eco-friendly mattress line called Smart Homes. “Right now she comes first. But I want to and I’m still continuing to work.”
