What a title. It intrigued me when I first came across it scrolling through Netflix.

After witnessing the death of a local gangster, a young boy called Miguel tries to warn his neighborhood of their impending danger. Laughing it off they ignore him so he seeks the help of his friends in order to get proof. Skeptical at first, they reluctantly accept and come across a huge conspiracy of a corporation ran by Vampires buying off parts of the Bronx. Seeing as how no one is willing to help they decide to handle things themselves.

Pretty straightforward the story gives us a great blend of characters that try to fight the obvious parallel to gentrification. The main trio makes for a great side to root for, although one of them felt underutilized and just there to explain to them what vampires are (although it was a great scene seeing them watch Blade in order to learn how to fight them) while both of the other three had story arcs that made you feel more invested in them. Regardless it was a very entertaining Movie.

The only part that I did not like were the vampires themselves. They fit every single cliche that you would expect out of a vampire. Granted there is not much to work with but it felt like they did not put in any effort into them. They were not even a bit scary, but this wasn’t really a dark horror more family night horror so it is something I can disregard. It was entertaining and engaging and that’s all you need.
