Disturbed – game review

Time do dive into another game!

So, contrary to popular belief this is not a game about Disturbed the band although I am always down with the sickness (I am sorry but I had to do it). Instead, in the game you play as Von, a farmer who is struggling to survive as his farm slowly dies. He decides to do something about it and goes outside to find the cause. As he explores more and more he begins to unveil a blight that is poisoning the land. Can he save the land or will he die?

Much like the other free games with a short gameplay duration, Disturbed is a multiple choice click through Story driven game that has surprisingly hand drawn visuals which make it feel more like a visual novel than a game:

The story itself is interesting and it did get me invested in the game but it felt like it was lacking. There was a lot more that could have been done. There was too much focus on random deaths around the map and not enough focus on smooth gamplay that put me off at the start. There were also a lot of unanswered questions that I’d like to know more about. For example (slight spoiler) at the start of the game you have a choice to save a woman or leave her in the cellar and if you save her she just kills you. It seems to add nothing to the story. Maybe I missed something but I highly doubt it. Maybe it gets explained in the sequel Disturbed: Beyond Aramor.

Still, I had fun playing it so that’s what matters the most. The minimalistic art style and atmosphere combined with a decent story makes it a game worth playing, especially since it’s a free game you can find on steam.

Final verdict: 6.5/10
