Today, we will discuss the four major streaming apps and how you can set parental controls on it.

According to a recent survey by Market Watch, Netflix is planning to expand its business across the world in the coming years. But, there are some restrictions and problems that are acting as an impediment. Not only will it increase the running cost but may also face a looming competitor.

One of the senior analysts at Macquarie, Tim Nollen said Amazon is on the top of the watch-list these days. Besides this, other streaming apps like Hulu, Sling, and Netflix are also finding their way in international business.

All these channels that have been discussed above have their unique content with the best quality of sound and picture.  Take, for example, shows like ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘House of cards’ is available on ‘Netflix’. In the same way, you can watch ‘Transparent and Man in High castle’ on Amazon.

Now, let’s have look at four major streaming apps and how you can use Parental Controls on it.

Netflix: You can set up parental controls for Netflix app from a mobile device or computer. You can classify the content according to four categories little kids, older kids and teens, and adults. So, parents can create the profile on Netflix Account for their kids.

What it doesn’t have: Netflix doesn’t support password for an account which means your kids can easily access the adult account without any password whereas there is a PIN passcode for parental settings.

Amazon Video: In Amazon video, the user can set a PIN for video purchases. Parents can block the MPAA rating or specific categories. There are different categories available on Amazon website like Family, Teen, Mature and general.

On Amazon, you can block different devices that your kids use. This has been confirmed by a technical blogger on the website. All the blocked content will display a lock symbol on the screen.

There is an option available for parents through which they can change the age of the account holder below 17 and block the content till their kids attain 17 years of age. This is also a good move for parents as they can easily log-out of the account while watching content with children. There are separate family and kid section available for youngsters on Hulu. If you are Hulu Plus subscriber, then you will get Hulu kids section as a complimentary service.

What it doesn’t have?

There is no as such parental controls in Hulu. Kids can easily peep into their parent account and watch the content.

Sling

The parental controls of this streaming service are the strongest of all. By getting into settings, parents can easily set the PIN for parental controls. The content can be restricted according to the age. It always requires a passcode for watching the content from the app. Mature content will open only after entering the passcode.
