The new Miss Supranational Japan 2017 Yuki Koshikawa was crowned by reigning Miss Supranational 2016 Srinidhi Shetty at the conclusion of the finals night held at the Saitama Kaikan.
Yusi Koshikawa represented Chiba Prefecture and was first runner-up at the at the Osaka regionals held last March. But she has slayed the competition at the finals night, besting 23 other candidates for the crown.
She will travel later this year to Poland for the Miss Supranational 2017 finals, hoping to be the first Japanese and fourth Asian woman to win the crown.
With the Miss Supranational Japan finals, the country has become the first country in the world to have five different pageants dedicated to crowning Japanese delegates for the Big 5 pageants, joining Miss Universe Japan, Miss World Japan, Miss International Japan and Miss Earth Japan.
This year’s panel of judges were comprised of track star Daichi Kamino, Miss Universe Japan 2008 Mima Hiroko, Miss Supranational Japan 2010 Miou Fujinaga and Filipino fashion designer Leo Almodal, among others.
